This site is no substitute for a formal apprenticeship

This site is not a substitute for a professional apprenticeship with a licensed tattoo studio. Nor is this site a definitive source for learning the art or trade of tattooing. An apprenticeship is the ONLY universally accepted way to learn proper safety practices and sound technique.

While we welcome members of all levels, we STRONGLY advocate staying away from skin until you've received formal training from someone who works in the field. Hell, even hair stylists must complete over a year of courses, pass a state health board exam, and apprentice under a professional studio before earning a chair.

The trade of tattooing has a rich history and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. If you respect the art, please show your respects by learning the right way.

Hey, come on guys, I can see where this forums going if this is the attitude we all take.

She made a poor joke & her humour's not to everyone's taste. A polite heads up would have been fine. Let's knock the personal crap on the head, eh?

I didn't see anything wrong with what she said but then again, I talk about coat hanger abortions.

OK im back, took a shower and cooled off a bit.

BB sorry If I was kinda heavy on ya. It just seems to me that someone that has a serious interest in learning would have read ALL the posts they could. Also seems like the question of needle depth would b sorted out by reading.

As for how many coils are on my machine?, wouldnt most of us know that BEFORE we bought our gear?

I have no problem at all with someone wanting to gain knowledge, hell id love to help all that I can.
I do have a problem with someone doing tattoos half-assed, without a basic knowledge.
Remember we CAN kill people doing this. I guess I take my chosen path seriously, maybe more so than others.

Again, sorry about being a dick, please just prove me wrong.

I think everyone is aware that this forum is perhaps not going to be favorably received by certain elements of the tattoo fraternity - and my first suspicion was that blondebitch may have been one of this number, which made me cautious of some of her language and questions. I think this may well be the root of the trouble (please correct me if I'm wrong) I think the majority try to be careful of their language and the way that newbies are represented because they know that in general this kind of free exchange of knowledge is generally not well regarded...  I hope blondebitch will take this into consideration in future. I'm sure there was no ill intent.

i think the best thing to do for newbies that just signed up for this forum, is to allow them to ask their question... and if the question is a redundant one,  just reply with ' THAT QUESTION HAS ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED AND HERE IS THE LINK... ETC.'.

and if that person seems like he/she is posting up obviously blatant sarcasm type questions or replys, then just blackball that person by ignoring them or let them know that if they cant POST MATURELY THEN THEY NEED TO LEAVE.... and if they dont, thats when the mods need to step in to ban or delete their posts..... i dont want this forum to have any E-BEEF AT ALL. EVERYONE HERE ARE ADULTS AND NAME CALLING AND MUDSLINGING IS JUST COUNTER PRODUCTIVE TO WHAT JASON AND CO. ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE ON THIS FORUM... PEACE.

I agree whole heartedly.  I know if I want to be jumped on or ridiculed I'll just go back to asking questions on MySpace tattoo groups.

*lol*

I could really care less about peoples lame jokes.. Honestly I didnt think it was offensive or anything.. I mean I didnt laff but I wasn't like.. "ooo man WTF"  either..

the part I find funny is in one post she is talking about how she uses a certian tech to apply stencils and such.. and then in this post she doesnt know how much needle should be showing?

ummm...  Granted Im new at this.. but that was one of the first things I wanted to know.. how deep am I supposed to be going into the skin..  thats like a MUST know right off the bat. even before stencil application!

Chef-ink..  thanks standing up for me ;D    I just read that comment to and was like what the hell.. I didnt even say anything about her post.. honestly I dont even think I read her post.

Im a selective reader..

K, I've read two of BB's posts on our board and I have to say Mike's instincts were right on.  Both are just dripping with sarcasm at least in my opinion.  He might have been a little too confrontational in his approach but he was defending what we have come to think of as a safe place to openly discuss the art we all love and its not  a stretch to think that someone can sign up here just to disrupt what is quickly developing into a very cool board..and why haven't we heard from BB again?  Several of our members have reached out with welcoming posts.....Mikey rocks......I'm  just sayin....

My @ cents…

Everyone including me has come to this forum now only to learn what they can but also because there is no attitude here. We have all been shit on and told sell our equipment and die from pro tattooists on other forums… When Jason started this forum he never wanted it to become that.

We are all protective here… lets face it we have started our own community and I for one am fiercely protective of this forum and all of the people on it… but let’s all remember that we are here to help and be helped…. Not to dole out shit because we know more then a newbie just starting out. That makes us no better then the “pro’s” who shit on us when we asked them the same questions.

If BB is messing with us then so be it… if you answer her question and someone else reads the answer and learns from it … that’s what this forum is for.!!! And if it’s a pro and his sarcastic question actually helped someone on the forum then the joke is on him now isn’t it?

Ok.. I’m done… respect all.

Gweger makes a good point.  There are things I was taugh by a "pro" while apprenticing, that after reading some posts here sound like stupid idea.  Not to say my teacher was wrong.  Only that some of the people here have found better ways.  I am interested on everyones take on even the most basic of topics or questions.  You never know when you might learn a new trick for an old technique.

I don`t mind stupid questions, and I don`t mind if blondbitch is a pro making fun or not. I try to concentrate on the information I can get out of this. bad thing of course would be if someone puts information into this forum which is posted in a sarcastic way like for example "you have to put the needle into the skin with a depth of 15 inch to get the ink stay there".

because my main language is not english, it`d sometimes be not easy to figure out sarcasm and so maybe I would take some information serious? (ok, in this case I wouldn`t be that stupid to ram the needle in that deep)

Damn this is too funny

I didnt think the title of my post was gonna make any one mad i wasnt trying to be funny i just fucking wrote it not thinking every one was going to start saying all this dumb shit. What was the big deal? I read a lot posts i didnt find the answer so i wrote my own. My machine was a gift and it had no package so i dont know what coils they are. Im not stuck up or a snob just b/c i put "im the ultimate blonde bitch." What the fuck is wrong with you people? Dont say sorry to me, you dont mean any thing to me, thats why the dumb shit you wrote before doesnt even phase me. I dont know you people, you aint shit to me. (mike, cheif, tinky, cressida, zappa.) By the way dont even post back to me please, thanks  :-*

To every one else on here just wanted to say thanks for helping people on here like myself. I know not every tattoo artist like to teach others and you guys are a big help so thank you so much.

I had decided to just ignore your idiocy because my mother taught me to be nice to retarded people.  But this last post has taken the cake.  You seriously want to tell us that we aren't shit to you and expect help from us?  These guys that you say don't matter, aren't shit, shouldn't even post back are the people who would have helped you had you not sounded like an ignorant ass.  I mean you are trying to get help for an artform that a lot of people don't want to just be given out.  It's a serious thing and we expect it to be treated as such.

Learn some respect.

blondebitch, if you're still reading this just consider you got this forum hoping (good bad - still weighing it up) I'm always in the market for giving people a second chance but highly recommend that eating a bit of humble pie on occasion rather than blowing the opposition out of he water with attitude can work wonders...  just remember the great thing about writing is it gives you the opportunity to edit things!
best wishes to all
