This site is not a substitute for a professional apprenticeship with a licensed tattoo studio. Nor is this site a definitive source for learning the art or trade of tattooing. An apprenticeship is the ONLY universally accepted way to learn proper safety practices and sound technique.
While we welcome members of all levels, we STRONGLY advocate staying away from skin until you've received formal training from someone who works in the field. Hell, even hair stylists must complete over a year of courses, pass a state health board exam, and apprentice under a professional studio before earning a chair.
The trade of tattooing has a rich history and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. If you respect the art, please show your respects by learning the right way.

as long as its "talens for tattoo" formulation - in some countries/states its not legal to use regular talens..crazy,I know...been used safely for years but what you gonna do?

weird, i ordered talens from eikon and it says right on the bottle "not for tattooing"

Thats right,they put that as a legal disclaimer on the regular stuff but have a different "....for tattoo" formula that they market alongside the regular....maybe eikon market the regular stuff cos people want it and arent affected by the laws and regs involved ?

pelikans been used for years aswell and they ve just started putting the same thing on their bottles

Is the "...for tattoo formula" any good?Or is it more "if it ain broke dont fix it"?I got no probs with anyone using either but just wanted to make people aware of the potential regulations issue.Hell,I got enough "rotring" ink in my arms to float a boat.Well....a small li-lo,maybe.....
....or a rubber ducky anyway

talens tattoo ink is apparently not as good as the reagular drawing ink. haven't tried it myself but my co-worker didn't like it and he knows his stuff. pelikan isn't as black as talens btw.
If I come off like a dick when critiquing it's because I have high standards, and I'm honest about it, so don't take it personally.

I bought talens but to nervous to try new ink on anyone but me... so not done it yet..( I always try to try it on me first )
I bought EURO sumi a few months ago.. seems really nice, I have to say I HATE the bottle and stopper in it.. was tight shut and fell on its side in my ink box.. 3/4 leaked out through the lid.. I had the very same prob with kuro sumi! perhaps those guts need a lesson in making lids better non of my other ins have ever done that. :-S
..Damn it...
