Awright, this is my first entry. It's really hard going back to pencil and pen after using a computer for so long. I'm pleased, even if I do need to learn to plan my banners better.

I left a gap and then shaded pink/orange using watercolor pencils. They work like regular colored pencils only you can take a wet brush to them and they bleed out like watercolor. Of course what you can't see in this picture is that the paper is now all lumpy. :D

I'ts not finished and i dont have any more time to spend on it today :P .This my first go at old school. I went with Sailor Jerry style line work and layout, and tried to emulate Joe Sleepy colors. This is also my first colour drawing. The colour is nothing like the crisp drawing Joe do's, but i dont mind what ive done, so far it looks ok. I can only get bet better. Looking at it now I wouldn't have gone for the red sun behind it but just done some yellow, owell, too late now.

Sorry its not finished, hope thats ok.

Hey Joe

Does the quality of the colour pencils your using help alot in achieving your great colour or could you achieve nearly the same result with any pencils.

May sound like a dumb question but i was just wondering.

The pencils I use work out at about 40cents each.

That said, pencils with a lot of white added to the

pigment obscure the shading underneath. A good

test is to colour over a piece of black paper. If

you can barely see the colour it hasn't got a lot

of white in it and wouldn't screw with your black

shading......... :)
