GREAT?? not really. having done a stretch myself i don't see ANYTHING great about it. personally i hate the thought of it and i try to forget ever having done a prison tattoo(of wich i've done many) its bad enough havin to tattoo old english letters on every gangbanger around these parts so they can try to gain some "street cred" all "prison tats" says to me is hepatitis c and sodomy lol. not what i want my rep to be about........

I hated being in a shop and having guys come in and asking to give them tattoos that looked like they were done in prison. They wanted the work to look gray and green like they were done shitty. No prison tats for me. You can always go rob a 7/11 then you can start your shop that way.

everyone i know who has a prison tat, just ended up getting it covered up anyway. i dont personally like the idea. the last thing i want to do is feel like when im getting a tattoo or working, is that im in prison again. just my two cents

ive kicked around the idea of themed tattoo shops or rooms, and i have to say i wouldnt go anywhere near a prison theme, its just not funny to me at all, I've kicked around ideas for vampire themes, blood stained doctors offices, and morbid shit like that... but never a prison theme

i wasnt saying i would do it

i'm not attacking you bro its just that for years we as tattooers have been tryin to shed that stigma and make a better image for ourselves and this artform and bein an ex-con myself i hate the mention of prison and think that glorifying it in any way is foolish and detrimental to this artform. so forgive us if we don't see the humor in it. like i said before all prison ink says to me is hepatitis and sodomy lol neither one sounds like ANYTHING i want to be associated with.......

the business is alredy as cut throat as it gets--don't give them a bullet to shoot you with...plus the board of commerce will likely give you a hard time...it's hard enough for professional shops to get zoning....

i myself having done a 12 year stretch learned the art on the inside...

i have several tattoos on me that i would never think of covering

for the simple fact it reminds me of a point in my life

that i never wanna return to...that being said the machine we used on all of

my tattoos was a rotary machine built by me and used on me only

no worries of hiv or hep c...and alcohol pads were plentiful

from the nurse...prison tats are not as bad as some people may think

in fact i have seen cleaner prison cells thatn some tattoo shops

you have to remember thats the guys home...if he is a slob

dont let him tattoo you...some of the best artists i know are in prison...

just my 2 cents...

I think using a prison theme for a room (not a whole shop) could be nice, if done proper. Put a few posters

of Elvis from jail house rock. Draw cartoon prisonners and guards tattooing each-other... you get the picture

Would this offend or resurect any bad memories?

It may not be the best theme !

But who cares about any of your "bad memories" ?

If you would of kept your nose clean you would of never had to be behind bars.

Do the crime... Be ready to do the time !

Not cry about it when something brings back those memories ~

Not sayin this is quality !! Just saying it got him some recognition ~~

The reality is that alot of younger kids out there have this glamerous image of prison. They think it makes them hard or gives them some credibility on the streets. Anyone that has spent ANY length of time locked down knows 1 thing: IT SUCKS!!!!

I only did a short stretch when I was a dumbased kid, I thought the same thing going in. That sure changed after 2 days, It sucks, theres no glamour, just alot of racism, tensions and bullshit.

I have a friend that just got released and was so happy to see he's stil the same guy. Prison changes most people, not for the better. So it isnt something I enjoy talking about or remembering.

As far as a prison theme in a shop I think its a VERY bad idea. Just brings the typical stereotype right into the forefront of the shops image.

That you have "prison tats" is irrelevant to any discussion, here. It's a qualification that comes up now and then and I'm not sure why  as it should be an embarrassment of which sharing is reserved for close friends. Doing something worth going to jail for is an indicator of a person being stupid or an asshole.  And as far as tattooing is concerned; it's as relevant as telling us you learned a lot about romancing women by jerking off to lady-boy porn.

Not all prison ink is terrible ive seen some really good stuff

This is true...but Bunny Boy is not in possession of that quality of work.  And "by the way, I got these in prison" adds nothing to "I want to get better;  how do I improve these efforts?"
