THIS IS A SITE FOR ARTISTS, NOT CLIENTS (Please read before posting)   04/18/2018

I'm seeing a lot more questions from people who are looking to get tattoos, asking about ideas, healing instructions, etc. These are questions you should ask YOUR  LOCAL TATTOO ARTIST, not random people on the internet. This site is specifically for tattoo artists and those looking to get into the trade by way of an apprenticeship. Don't be shy! Google local artists and drop by a shop or two, check out their portfolio of work and talk about your ideas with a professional who can help you achieve the best tattoo experience.

       Thanks for reading!

Hey guys, brand new here.

Im sure this has been asked before but I can't find too much on it. I am just getting back into drawing seriously after years of nothing. I just want to paint original flash for my own enjoyment. My question is, how did you guys go about teaching yourself American traditional? What is the essence of that style in your opinion and what would you recommend to someone who is just beginning their journey? I've had minor success teaching myself but I feel like I've really hit a wall in the last week or so.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Study and copy some of the old flash from yesteryear and by the time you have done a few you will start to understand that bold will hold and the colours were much more limited back in the day, also you will find that simple stuff isn't really as simple as it looks....
