Japanese Tattoo Blog

20 posts in this topic

Hey guys, not sure if any of you would be interested, but I have started a tumblr blog covering traditional japanese tattoo. As some of you know I have spent the last 4+ years studying and drawing the style, while I wouldn't consider myself by any means an expert or master in the style, I have done quite a good amount of study. I have started the blog in hopes that others will also submit their own findings and opinions on specific subjects etc, as I do still very much consider myself a novice and student. So it is more a place for sharing.

Check it out http://irebokuro.tumblr.com/

Feel free to drop me a line there, or request a subject and or leave your own findings too.

I will not be covering any newschool subjects or posting any newschool pics, ok maybe some shige (he has covered some great stories I haven't seen some people touch yet)

Nice. You've convinced me to finally start a tumblr account so I can follow this and all the other awesome blogs I see people posting about. Looking forward to digging around a bit.

Looks good man... I got tattooed by Horimasa this year, he's a very approachable bloke. Go through Cyrstal @ Gomineko.... unless you speak Japanese that is

awesome page twoshay, very informative. thanks for posting. and helps me explain a few things to our apprentice at the shop who is obsessed with tradtional japanese work but doesnt know the history or the meanings behind them and so his composition is usually lacking or pieces are put together with things that wouldnt normally be in the same piece together. was hard for me to explain to him since i havent researched as extensively as i would have liked to since living in oknawa, an so is great reference for him (and i) to build upon. thank you, much appreciated and will share the page with others :)

very welcome man, tell him to follow it, more than welcome to ask me questions, usually if I don't know the answers, or cannot find them, I ask some of the artists I know over there! Glad people are finding the information useful
