I'm seeing a lot more questions from people who are looking to get tattoos, asking about ideas, healing instructions, etc. These are questions you should ask YOUR LOCAL TATTOO ARTIST, not random people on the internet. This site is specifically for tattoo artists and those looking to get into the trade by way of an apprenticeship. Don't be shy! Google local artists and drop by a shop or two, check out their portfolio of work and talk about your ideas with a professional who can help you achieve the best tattoo experience.
Thanks for reading!
INK TRAILS TATTOO FORUM TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This site is not a substitute for a professional apprenticeship with a licensed tattoo studio. Nor is this site a definitive source for learning the art or trade of tattooing. Tattooing is not something that should be taken lightly. Not only is your work permanent, but if safe practices are not followed, there is the possibility of contamination and infection (and we mean the kind of diseases that really f*ck up your life). An apprenticeship is the only universally accepted way to learn proper safety practices and sound technique.
While we welcome members of all levels, we strongly advocate staying away from skin until you've received formal training from someone who works in the field. Hell, even hair stylists must complete over a year of courses, pass a state health board exam, and apprentice under a professional studio before earning a chair. The trade of tattooing has a rich history and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. If you respect the art, please show your respect by learning the right way.
Furthermore, all opinions on this site are solely those of the author/member posting, and we accept no responsibility or fault for any damage or undesired consequences encountered by those following the guidance of any member of this board. We highly recommend finding multiple sources when seeking information of any kind. We strongly advocate that you go to your local tattoo parlor and get professional advice, from a reputable artist, in all aspects of tattooing.
*** Please take time to read all of the following. This is not a wordy license agreement for a piece of free software. These rules below will affect how you can use this website. ***
Ignorance of the rules is no defense.
Any breach of the forum rules may result in a suspension of posting privileges, an account suspension or a permanent ban. In this case all forum fees are non-refundable.
By using this forum, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
GENERAL FORUM RULES:
You must not post, attach or link to any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, threatening, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racist, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any International laws and regulations. You must not post any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are forbidden on this forum.
Forum staff and owners, cannot warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information presented. The posted messages express the views of the author, and not necessarily the views of this forum, its staff, its subsidiaries, or the forum owner(s).
Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify an administrator or moderator of this forum immediately. The staff and the owners of this forum reserve the right to remove objectionable content should they deem it necessary. This is a manual process, so please understand that they may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy applies to individual member's profile content as well.
IMPORTANT: By posting on this forum you are accepting that your creative content (ie your images, topics/post) will be displayed and published by the forum, and we reserve the sole right to edit, remove or retain this content as we see fit. Copyright to any and all forum posts and other content becomes the property of the forum and it's owners.
You, and only you, remain solely responsible for the content of your posted messages. Furthermore, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the owners of this forum, any related websites to this forum, its staff, and its subsidiaries. The owners of this forum also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or any other related information collected on this service) in the event of a formal complaint or legal action arising from your use of this forum.
***FURTHERMORE, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE TERMS OF SERVICE AT ANY POINT WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. ***
CODE OF CONDUCT:
Ink Trails does not, and will not, tolerate Racism, Homophobia, Misogyny, Religious Intolerance or Hate of any nature. Posting of any content, deemed as such by the Administration Team, will be determined in breach of forum rules and will result in a permanent ban with no recourse or means to a refund of any fees paid.
RESPECTING YOUR MODERATION TEAM:
Moderators are non-paid volunteers from a variety of geographical regions tasked with the sometimes unpopular job of regulating an open forum on the world-wide web. Moderators do their best to enforce the rules of the site equally towards all, however there may be times when you may not always agree with how a situation is handled. If you feel an action taken or situation warrants an appeal, please contact one of the moderators in PM to discuss. While we make every effort to take the members thoughts, opinions and feedback into consideration, the decisions and findings of the Moderation team are the final word.
That being said, personal abuse and insults directed at the moderation team will not be tolerated. Such behavior will lead to account suspension or permanent ban with no recourse or means to a refund of any fees paid.
We ask that you refrain from any overtly negative or hateful comments or posts. We encourage free speech and expression but not at the cost of civilized debate. We ask that all members are mindful of this community as a whole and keep this a welcoming and inclusive place. We reserve the absolute right to edit, modify, delete or otherwise alter all and any posts that we feel are not in the spirit of this positive community.
In addition, to avoid redundant topics/threads, we ask that members first use the search facility or Google to find information before posting questions. Many topics have already been covered and duplicate content makes navigating the site more difficult and is annoying for other community members whose time is often limited. WE reserve the right to delete duplicate topics without prior notice.
PLEASE NOTE: Should for some reason a member decide to request an account deletion, this does NOT mean all topics and /or posts made by the member will be deleted as well. Such would compromise the continuity of the forum and the topics/conversations that they participated in.
We DO NOT allow anyone to post images or even discuss the tattooing of anyone under the age of 18. While I know in some states/countries the laws are different, and with a parent's consent you are allowed to tattoo a minor, HERE we simply WILL NOT allow any images or even discussion about tattooing anyone under the age of 18.
PLAGIARISM & COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL:
We DO NOT allow posting of any copyrighted materials on this forum. That includes flash, books/manuals, and videos that you do not own the copyrights to. People make a living from their work, and if it's no longer profitable to produce these materials, they will stop offering it. Respect the art and the artist.
Furthermore, Plagiarism and intellectual dishonesty are not tolerated. If a piece has been traced or reinterpreted please credit original artist and/or source when and where applicable (living or dead). We believe that there is great value in studying, tracing & copying the work of other artists past and present, but claiming a design as your own is intellectually dishonest and this is not allowed. use common sense and give credit where credit is due.
PRIVATE MESSAGES (PM):
Private messages are meant to be just that, private. Any member found to have posted a PM in open forum will have their membership revoked immediately and without warning. No right of appeal will be given and furthermore no fees will be refunded as this is a violation of our terms and conditions. PMs are a useful tool within the forum but any abuse of this service will be dealt with severely and may result in punitive measures as outlined above.
SELF-PROMOTION & ADVERTISING
While we love to see the work of professionals, this forum was created to foster a community of people interested in tattooing. We encourage participation and sharing of experiences and information, not just self-promotion. If anyone on the forum feels that a member's posts are created strictly for advertising purposes, their posts may be deleted and their membership revoked. Anyone wishing to advertise through this site should do so through the proper channels.
Whilst we prefer that you host images used in posts remotely on sites like Flickr and Photobucket, all member groups (except for Shop Groupies) can upload attachments directly to the forum. If this feature is abused is any way we will remove this option without prior warning. Also note that this site’s hosting is NOT guaranteed and we accept no responsibility for backing-up or preserving your uploaded content and images. Furthermore, we reserve the absolute right to delete images as our sole discretion should they be in violation of any rules and conditions as outlined here.
BUYING, SELLING AND TRADING IN THE MARKETPLACE:
This forum is for tattoo related items exclusively. The Marketplace is a privilege afforded our members and as such, any abuse may result in it's temporary or permanent removal, without notice. If you signed up to access this feature alone, you probably should have joined.
*** Marketplace Disclaimer ***
Ink Trails does not and cannot evaluate/verify items for sale, sellers/buyers, or prices. These rules are intended to maintain order and to assist, rather than impede, personal sales and trades among forum members. However, we cannot ensure that every offer is legitimate or fairly priced. We are not responsible for the actions of forum members in carrying out the terms of sales, purchases, and trades.
We cannot control members, or their actions and we advise you to use the same due caution when dealing with people on this forum as you would with anyone on the world-wide web. Below are some simple rules you should always follow when buying/selling online:
1. You should ONLY use Paypal (or similar services) when sending payment to anyone online (no checks, money orders, wire-transfers, cash). Services like this offer fraud protection and can help you take action and recover lost money. If they don't have a Paypal account set-up, don't buy from them. If you don't have one set-up, get on it.
2. Require that items are shipped via FedEx/UPS as they issue tracking numbers and signature confirmation to ensure the package was shipped and received. You can also opt for C.O.D (cash on delivery) to help prevent fraud.
3. Research and ask if other members have has favorable transactions with the person you are buying from. If the member has not conducted any transactions with any other members, ask them if they have an eBay account that shows positive feedback.
4. Use your gut! If something doesn't seem right, let someone else test the waters before jumping in.
YOU SHOULD ONLY POST ONE REVIEW PER TRANSACTION IN THE GOOD GUY/BAD GUY THREAD.
That means positive or negative, leave ONLY ONE POST (even if there's a rebuttal from the other party). Keep your comments about the transaction ONLY and stay away from insults and inflammatory language or you may face punitive measures as stated above.
RESOLVE YOUR DISPUTES OFF THE BOARD! That means resolve your dispute via PM, email or phone, not in public view!
All sellers MUST include the expected delivery time, delivery method (USPS, FEDEX, UPS) and return policy (you can say "as is" or "no returns" if you like) but you MUST include your policies in your post.
*** THIS SITE AND ITS STAFF WILL NOT ASSIST YOU IN RESOLVING DISPUTES. IF YOUR WANT BUYER PROTECTION, GO TO EBAY.***
