  1. Hey guys. At first i have to say im a total beginner at tattooing. Im doing it for like 2 months right now. Mostly i teach myself by watching Youtube video's which i take notes of and reading in the internet. Im practicing on myself and my friends which know im still learning and not the best. I try to reflect what im doing and to analyse the healing process to find out what im doing wrong and how i could do it better. I know its not the best way to learn it by myself and that i should be learning in a studio with a good mentor but i hope you guys help me anyways... So now lets talk about the issue. When i finish tattoos i always think they are looking good (for my grade of experience). But when they heal and the crust starts to peel off und er the crust most off the color disappears. After crust peeled off: Before crust peeled off: URL=https://www.bilder-upload.eu/bild-89b63d-1548972547.jpg.html][/URL] Im working with a Chayenne Hawk Spirit, my ink is Form Silverback Ink and my cartridges are from Killer Ink. For outlines i used a 25BPTRLLT/07 Roundliner, and for the filling i used a 25SEMLT/09 Mag Curved Bugpin and a 35RSLT/07 Shader LongTaper for the smaller regions. I really hope you guys can say me what im doing wrong and give me some tips. Feel free to critisize but please stay constructive. Im so thankful for any help you guys can imagine...

    Problem with speed

Hey I’ve been tattooing for 5 years and recently moved studio, I’m enjoying working there However there is one issue. The owner has been tattooing for 20+yrs and basically does one style . They’ve been getting at me for my speed, I know I’m not slow I’m just slower than them and I do a variety of different styles. My last studio I was the mid range speed artist so I know I’m about average speed (the manager based pricing on my speed) but I keep getting grief about my speed to point I’m having to do a lot of touch ups cos I’m getting made to feel I should rush (yeah I know I shouldn’t) also I don’t really charge p/h I tend to give set pricing so the customer isn’t getting any extra charge if I do run over. I’ve tried to explain I’m not willing to sacrifice my quality for speed but they keep getting at me, how do I broach this without causing further issues. Anyone any advice I don’t want it to become such a big deal I wanna leave. I got grief cos I wanted to try colour realism and it took me 90-120mins for a hyper realism rose which I don’t think is too terrible. Cheers in advance

    Study on Body Modification

Hi Everyone, I know it's always easy to quickly click messages away, but I would be really happy if you guys could take part in my Study. As part of a dissertation and a research project of the Helmut Schmidt University (Hamburg, Germany) and Medical School Hamburg (Hamburg, Germany), we would like to ask you some questions regarding the "Motivation for Body Modification". It is not relevant whether you have some or not. Your answers will of course be handled anonymously to the highest standards and we can not draw any conclusions about your case. Some of you might know the situation, that people still think in stereotypes and try to judge. Well nonetheless because of the current state of relevant studies still think in stereotypes. Many of you might already know, body modifications have existed since 3000 BC. Starting with Ötzi, the man from the Tisenjoch. The number of piercings, tattoos and other changes to the body is steadily increasing, but what motivates people to consciously opt for a body modification? We are trying to unify this in a survey and would be very happy if you would join the study. https://ww2.unipark.de/uc/bodymodificationsurvey/ Of course, all data protection laws were complied with. Please complete the questionnaire to the best of your knowledge and belief. Thank you so much. If you have any questions regarding the the secrecy feel free to contact me: weiler@hsu-hh.de
  4. Looking for reassurance. I’m fairly heavily tattooed and last weekend for the first time ever the artist touched his machine to me when he wasn’t trying to. I wasn’t looking, so I’m not exactly sure how it happened. Anyway, he swore, kind of laughed nervously, and promised that it would fade because it was only on the surface of my skin. It’s not scratch-off-able and seems fairly permanent. I can’t find anything online about this, probably because it’s a ridiculous error. Anyone have experience with this kind of misfortune? It’s a small cluster of tiny dots because it was the machine that shades (sorry I don’t know the correct name) but noticeable enough to cause concern. A picture isn’t really helpful since it just looks like a black smear. Thanks!
  5. Hey, I had this peony flower done on my right arm back in the middle of September. It’s completely black and gray, no other colors, and the artist used a very light gray for the inner petals. Because of this, my blood swelled up to the lightly shaded area almost immediately and by the time he was finished with the tattoo, it looked like a bright red flower. Of course, he assured me the red would go away and once healed the petals of the flower would be a light gray. Almost six weeks later and while the red has faded, it’s still a little pink. It’s still not black and gray. I have other pieces from the same artist which are completely black and gray, but for some reason the light gray shading on this flower isn’t working out. I also notice that if I get hot or I rub the tattoo, the shading gets a dark red again. I talked to my artist and he said he doesn’t know what exactly happened, and he doesn’t know if it the pink/red tint will ever go away. But what do you guys think? Am i stuck with a pink flower forever or will the petals eventually become a light gray by month two or something?
  6. Hi! Im working on building a leg sleeve and was wondering what people have put on their inner thigh bc mine is a blank canvas and I’m not exactly sure what to put there to hide stretch marks
  7. Hello Everyone, I’m a mobile application designer who would like to propose a tool to be used to help connect artists and customers from around the globe. I am currently developing an android (soon to be on iPhone) app called that allows users to find tattoo studios based on their current location. Once they have found a studio, they have access to a few features such as: - Embedded Google Maps to know exactly where the studio is based - Able to view the artists Instagram feed from inside the app - Book appointments and consultations - View the latest news and updates from the artist - See testimonials from previous clients - Can view what tattoo styles you actually do to avoid any time wasters - Star Rating System to aid customers to determine the overall quality There are many tools and features I intend to add in the near future so its important to bear in mind this app is still in development. The idea of this app is to unify all tattooing needs to one singular app and give both small and large studios a level playing field when it comes to finding business. If you feel this is something you would like to be involved with then let me know. If not, I'd appreciate any constructive feedback. It will be free on initial release so if you would like a demo then with enough positive feedback, I will publish the prototype. Thank you for your time
  8. So last week I got my second tattoo, and apparently my artist did not understand what I wanted at all, despite showing her reference photos and the style of my first tattoo. I wanted some violets in a very abstract, watercolor style. The attached photos were the only ones small enough, but they were my refs (first for the fade style, next two for the water color/abstractness), this is my first tattoo (that I love), and these are my new tattoo. Turns out, I absolutely hate what I ended up with. Like, have to take my glasses off to clean it, hate it. One way or another, it has to go. Is there any possibility a cover up or rework of it could even work? It's a lot bulkier than I wanted originally, so I'm kind of inclined to think it couldn't without being much, much bigger than I want. I'm tempted to just call it a complete loss and start researching tattoo removal, but I wanted to check if there's any chance to save it first. Thank you in advance, I would really appreciate any thoughts you might have. P.S. Also, I know it's technically a beautiful piece of work, I'm not criticizing the quality of the piece out of context. It's just very much not the style I wanted or like for myself.
  9. I've had this tattoo for a few days now and i'm afraid it may not be healing properly. Here's a link to a video I've uploaded of what my tattoo is doing. https://www.youtube.com/upload I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing to keep it moist and to gently wash it and all that, I just cant tell weather its scabbing up or i have cuts or its super overworked so its scabbing up along with cuts and maybe becoming infected lol. Or is it that i just keep looking at it under my macro lense and its making me see all the little things i shouldn't be able to see and making me worry?? I hope to hear your thoughts? Thanks!
  10. I went to the store wearing shorts and a small piece of my tattoo was exposed to the sun for about 5-15 minutes. I got it done 3 days ago. Should i worry????

    Tattoos dissappear?

Just a thought.. I know it's not good to tattoo without formal training, but in my country tattooing is a much more informal practice, so I decided to start on my own.. I'm hesitant to even post this because of potential negative critisism.. Please be gentle. Okay... So I just got my own tattoo machine and I'm starting to learn.. I've only tattooed myself, but the tattoos I've done both came off... The scabs were loose and my skin shed most of the tattoo back out, and barely any of the ink stayed in my skin.. I have a feeling that I might be tattooing too shallow into the skin? Could use some advice..

    Opinions needed

Hey im planning on getting ink on me and i need some help with this. So im an atheist and i dont want any religious tattoos on me. So are these type of tattoos referred as religious and/or what other meanings they might have? that lion thing would look dope, but not even sure what it really is? i really like the look of those sculpture tattoos. http://media.gettyimages.com/photos/asolo-veneto-region-italy-european-union-picture-id78710650
  15. In December, I got my first tattoo and ... it healed badly in such a way that no tattoo artist I've spoken to has ever seen it heal like this. I have some health challenges, I'm a type 1 Diabetic but I have a good A1C, as well I'm on two immunosuppressants, Tacrolimis and Mycophenolate. None of my doctors suggested a tattoo would be a problem when I asked. So, I was extremely careful with healing and I know it did not get infected. I kept it very clean with gentle, recommended antimicrobial soap (soft soap), dried it gently and after a few days used unscented Lubriderm and tried to keep it moisturized. However, it still scabbed extremely badly and then basically fell off in one solid piece. I was really careful, I followed aftercare instructions to the letter, I didn't let cloth rub up against it or expose it to the sun.... I'm not really sure what happened here. I wonder if I'm allergic to an ingredient in the purple inks because the blue turned out a little better or if the artist went too deep or something? Has anyone encountered this? Thanks! Will lines collide?

Hello, I got a tattoo like a month ago and I am curious if the open skin between the mouth and paw will stay open or if the lines will collide. I cared good for my tattoo and keep him out of the sun. http://prntscr.com/jkw9mx Thanks in advance!
  18. Hi, I have a question about my fairly new tattoos (4-5 weeks). I am on vacation now and I want to protect my tattoos from the sun ofcourse, so I use SPF 50 sunmilk. My question is, does it matter what kind of protection you use (e.g. sunscreen, sunmilk etc.). And does the brand matter? Thanks in advance!
  19. Hello, I got this tattoo back in January and it’s still shiny and cracked looking. I’ve been applying Lubriderm a few times throughout the day. Is this a normal part of the healing process or have I messed up the tattoo in some way? Is there anything I can do to fix the shininess or should I just let it be? Thanks.
  20. Hello, Im just wondering what you guys think. I got a new tattoo 17 days ago and the bits the artist went over and over to get really black still haven't healed fully and the bits that have healed are obvious raised scars that have not settled black. I have looked after my tattoo exactly how my artist said and it did not get infected. Is there anything that can be done? Can the scars be tattooed over to make it look normal? Thanks for your help in advance.
  21. I just got a new tattoo yesterday and I've had this idea for a whole year. Finally decided to get it: its the melody of this song that holds a lot of significance to me. I'm not sure if its because I don't like the way the music notes look or something else, but I cant seem to like it. Is it because it's a little plain? Or too large? Or the spacing is off? Any ideas on what it might be thats bothering me or any suggestions on how to "fix" or add to it? a pic:

Hi dudes & dudettes im Looking for a realism tattooist to work in our studio in york, North Yorkshire any help ? Thanks
  23. Hello! To start off, I’m very new in this field. I don’t know too much about tattooing, but I am slowly learning. I was told to purchase a decent tattoo machine, but I’m not sure which types or brands are best for beginners? The tattoo artist I have an apprenticeship with recommended “Cheyenne Thunder”, but I also want to get other artist’s opinions.
  24. How’s it going brothers? I’ve been wanting to ask this question for a long time so here goes. I have around eight pieces on my left arm, and am contemplating keeping my right arm clean. However I am running out of space on my left arm and don’t want any on my front and back. I was thinking of placing only fine line tats on my right arm if I really have too. Although I am a tattoo enthusiast, I also am modeling and so my body is basically my brand, in a way, specifically as I plan on modeling full time soon. I want a distinct look, the image I’m going for is half preppy-half tough guy. I am quite thin, lean, but have broad shoulders. Fair skin. I believe in utilizing the spaces in between pieces, or our ‘clean skin’ to add to the aesthetic of a tattooed body. I been mulling over which ‘style’ to carry: Either- 1) one usual sleeve, right arm fine line sleeve, the tattoos sporadically scattered for the fine line sleeve 2) one usual sleeve, right arm having the usual tats covering the fore arm, upper arm fine line 3) one usual sleeve, right arm with usual tats covering the forearm and upper inner arm, leaving fine line tats segregated to the outer upper forearm. What are your opinions?
