  1. In December, I got my first tattoo and ... it healed badly in such a way that no tattoo artist I've spoken to has ever seen it heal like this. I have some health challenges, I'm a type 1 Diabetic but I have a good A1C, as well I'm on two immunosuppressants, Tacrolimis and Mycophenolate. None of my doctors suggested a tattoo would be a problem when I asked. So, I was extremely careful with healing and I know it did not get infected. I kept it very clean with gentle, recommended antimicrobial soap (soft soap), dried it gently and after a few days used unscented Lubriderm and tried to keep it moisturized. However, it still scabbed extremely badly and then basically fell off in one solid piece. I was really careful, I followed aftercare instructions to the letter, I didn't let cloth rub up against it or expose it to the sun.... I'm not really sure what happened here. I wonder if I'm allergic to an ingredient in the purple inks because the blue turned out a little better or if the artist went too deep or something? Has anyone encountered this? Thanks! 2. Hi so I feel like I might be overreacting here, but I got a couple of new tattoos exactly 2 weeks ago, I’m just a bit concerned about the way everything’s healing. I’ve had a few other tattoos done in the past and only one of them is raised because the artist was a bit too heavy handed. This is mostly why I’m concerned because I know that if it’s happened before, it can happen again. I went to a different artist this time around and he’s done one of my tattoos in the past which healed perfectly fine, but it’s small and on the other side of my arm so I didn’t really watch the healing process all that closely. These ones cover my entire forearm so I’m paying more attention to it this time around. I know it’s normal for tattoos to look a little odd (dull/shiny) for a few weeks, but because I have dark skin, I know I might be more susceptible to raised scarring (keloids). That’s my biggest worry, really. I know it might be too soon to tell, but I guess I’m just wondering if it all looks normal for the stage that it’s at? I know everyone’s skin heals differently, but I guess I’d just like to know that it’s not uncommon for tattoos to look like mine after 2 weeks. thanks! some photos of the healing tattoo https://drive.google.com/open?id=18uoEUL1pYtnBzAu75AQcBRHreYxw0Uia
  3. I just got a new tattoo two weeks ago. It’s just semi-thick black letting on the side of my wrist and relatively small, a little more than an inch long. At first everything seemed to be healing normal and quickly, but since the scabs fell off, it feels a little raised above skin level and it’s very shiny. Sometimes I see little white areas around it where it looks like it’s peeling, but not significantly which makes me wonder if this is the final look. Can anyone offer insight on if this is normal or if there’s something wrong? Photo 1 Photo 2
  4. This is my first tattoo. I got it on November 12th. Does this look normal? The scabbing and milky color is freaking me out that something is wrong. It isn’t warm to the touch or anything or really red. Thanks for any answers!

    Healing advice

I just want to get s little more advice because I'm being told so many different things from so many people. I've originally had a tattoo done on my chest and coloured and it turned out great. I had some of my arm done just a week ago and I want to know what's the best way to prevent scabbing? BecUse my arm scabbed up pretty bad. I was told to dry heal the tattoo and use no cream unless it got infected. Once I got home I was told to take a shower and lightly wash it and then press harder and harder so you push out white blood cells or something. I can't really remember. But im also being told that my artist should never have said to dry heal it and I should have put a cream on it etc. so I'm going back in a few weeks to get the touch up and rest of the colour done. But are there better steps I should take into looking after it so it comes out looking good?
  6. Well, getting right into it, I got my first tattoo 2 days ago. For the most part, it's going fine, I love it and it seems to be following the usual healing process. I do, however, have a little dent (about 3mm) and I'm not sure what it is (no smell, pain or discharge). When I finished the tattoo I didn't have it but after cleaning it a few times, while drying with a piece of paper, I noticed littles flakes of skin and ink coming out. Since then I have been more careful, but am just a bit worried. I've been searching around and haven't found anything that LOOKS similar, but from description I have two possible explanations 1- it was overworked and the skin caved in a bit; 2- when I dried it, I could've removed skin, since it was softer. I'm having a hard time taking pictures of it because it is so small, but I appreciate any help (: (in case anyone is wondering, it was done at a very reputable place and I am meeting with my artist in 2 weeks to see if I need a retouch, it was included in the price)
  7. Hi everyone. My tattoo is 11 days old. The black lines in the tattoo have healed well. I am concerned about the black arrow point. There is no infection, but this scab doesn't seem to be healing. The lines on the arrow point seem to be less black than, say, the sun. Are those lighter because it hasn't fully healed? Also, where the scab is, the scab seems to be shallower in the middle, like a small divot or indention. I'm thinking that's because the scab sides are higher. I guess I just expect the scab to be the same on the whole surface of it, not indented in the middle. I took extremely good care of it, following healing procedures from my artist. Please let me know what you think or any advice (or reassurances!). I've attached a picture. It's a bit red because I type at my desk, and my wrist sometimes touches the edge of the desk, so it's a bit irritated. Thanks so much!
  8. Hello to everyone! I'm new here and I got my tattoo a month ago. It still looks like it is in a healing process. My friend got one too and his healed 2 weeks after getting it done. What should I do to make it look like a normal tattoo? It is raised and looks really wrinkly and dry.
