THIS IS A SITE FOR ARTISTS, NOT CLIENTS (Please read before posting)   04/18/2018

I'm seeing a lot more questions from people who are looking to get tattoos, asking about ideas, healing instructions, etc. These are questions you should ask YOUR  LOCAL TATTOO ARTIST, not random people on the internet. This site is specifically for tattoo artists and those looking to get into the trade by way of an apprenticeship. Don't be shy! Google local artists and drop by a shop or two, check out their portfolio of work and talk about your ideas with a professional who can help you achieve the best tattoo experience.

       Thanks for reading!

  1. Purchasing Membership

We only accept Paypal, unfrotunately. Everything else has been a hassle to implement and stay on top of in terms of sw upgrades, etc.
  2. Help me select tattoo

I would advise working with a local professional artist in your area on designs. A forum like this is prob not the best place to solicit ideas for something as meaningful as what you are describing. Good luck!
  3. Hi

The old skin was a custom skin and I ran into problems every time the sw needed to be upgraded. Since site traffic is way down, it just doesn't make financial sense to keep doing the custom skins unfortunately. Also, every time they upgrade a whole number things totally change. BTW, good to see some familiar faces! Hope everyone is well!
  4. Welcome to the General Tattoo Discussion Board. Talk about anything tattoo-related here that doesn't fall into the other categories. ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************** This site is not a substitute for a professional apprenticeship with a licensed tattoo studio. Nor is this site a definitive source for learning the art or trade of tattooing. Tattooing is not something that should be taken lightly. Not only is your work permanent, but if safe practices are not followed, there is the possibility of contamination and infection (and we mean the kind of diseases that really f*ck up your life). An apprenticeship is the ONLY universally accepted way to learn proper safety practices and sound technique. While we welcome members of all levels, we STRONGLY advocate staying away from skin until you've received formal training from someone who works in the field. Hell, even hair stylists must complete over a year of courses, pass a state health board exam, and apprentice under a professional studio before earning a chair. The trade of tattooing has a rich history and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. If you respect the art, please show your respects by learning the right way. All opinions on this site are solely those of the author/member posting, and we accept no responsibility or fault for any damage or undesired consequences encountered by those following the guidance of ANY member of this board. We highly recommend finding multiple sources when seeking information of ANY KIND. We strongly advocate, go to your local tattoo parlor and get professional advice from a reputable artist.
  5. 5,000 Members!

Not really significant, other than a stat but we now have over 5K registered members. Most only come around to ask a question or two, but some stick around for the show Thanks to everyone, especially the regular members!
  6. Assistance from admin

Found him, but can't find any record of a membership payment. Have him get in touch with me...
  7. Assistance from admin

I can look into it, but the name "eternal forges" doesn't show up for me.

  9. Forum Software Update!

Folks, after more time than it should;ve taken we have updated the forum website to the latest version. Good news: We hope to start addressing some of the IPN server/ communication issues for pending Paypal payments. Also, poke around and start using TAGS which help users and search engines find content more readily. Bad News: The previous custom skin no longer works with this sw version so it may look rather bland for a while while we think about best ways to dress it up (if at all). Also... ***IMPORTANT*** You will now need to log in with display name, rather than login name. In older sw versions display name/login name were different. Moving forward you will ONLY use your display name (login name is useless). That means for example, I now have to login as "J.J. Flash" which is my exact display name. Thanks to everyone for the patience.
  10. No Access

    Sending you email now.
  11. Purchasing Membership

The issues in question relate to either customer's paying via Paypal wherein their account is not linked and so payment gets marked as pending while Paypal clears. However, for some reason Paypal doesn't let the site know when it clears so (for now) has to be done manually. Also, still battling to get forum sw upgraded to determine if sw or hosting company is the cause of database errors. It's as frustrating for me to have to deal with as well. Thx for your patience and always, if there's an issue....just email. Mizio, you should be sorted now.
  12. Paid But Can't Post?

Was on hold. Should work now.
  13. Having to upgrade the site sw and due to spam posts and comments in the blog, rather than painstakingly manually reviewing and deleting each one, we're going to need to delete all blogs and disable that feature. Not that many people use it so hopefully y'all understand. On the bright side, we discovered what got us manually banned from search engines
  14. Hey guys, As some of the older members know, I am no longer tattooing and have not been for over 5-years. During that time I have become less active on the site to the point of not really paying much attention to the daily activity. We’ve had server issues with our host, and I just learned that the site is no longer indexed in Google due to some spammy posts that happened around January of this year. This meant that the site was no longer showing up in Google searches and thus the numbers of new members declined significantly, leading to an almost complete slowdown of activity on the site. I am now working on removing those posts and applying for reconsideration in the index. It is my hope that through some general maintenance, the site will start slowly getting new members again and regain some of the community that made it such a wonderful resource to begin with. Also, if anyone is still reading this, feel free to get in touch if you’d be interested in being a moderator. We’ve lost more than a few good men (and women). Hope life is treating you all well. JJ
  15. Purchasing Membership

Should be resolved now. Yeah, site's ben slow...have been AWOL for a while, now just looking at things and appears Googel dropped us from index for sp@mmy posts. Nutz...
  16. Purchasing Membership

    Sorry for delay. Try now.
  17. If you'd like to search the site more effectively you can use what's called Google site commands. That is "site:forum.ink-trails.com keyword(s)." So for instance you could search "site:forum.ink-trails.com kuro sumi". Note: sometimes you will need to "repeat the search with the omitted results included," but overall this will enable you guys to find things more easily...
  18. Feel free to send us any comments, suggestions, or general feedback on this forum. Recommend new categories, shower us with praise, or discuss how we can improve this community. Our goal is to make this the best tattoo community on the web. You play an integral role in our development and your ideas help us achieve this goal!
  19. The module that handles subscriptions was upgraded and there's some issues members are experiencing: 1) Membership packages show out of stock. 2) Some members, potentially those with monthly subscriptions are no longer Full Members. Not sure but could be an issue with automatic renewals. I have currently a support ticket open. Thanks for your patience! Please post any issues you are having here.

In addition, to avoid redundant topics/threads, we ask that members first use the search facility or Google to find information before posting questions. SELF-PROMOTION & ADVERTISING While we love to see the work of professionals, this forum was created to foster a community of people interested in tattooing. These rules are intended to maintain order and to assist, rather than impede, personal sales and trades among forum members. However, we cannot ensure that every offer is legitimate or fairly priced. We are not responsible for the actions of forum members in carrying out the terms of sales, purchases, and trades. We cannot control members, or their actions and we advise you to use the same due caution when dealing with people on this forum as you would with anyone on the world-wide web. Below are some simple rules you should always follow when buying/selling online: 1. You should ONLY use Paypal (or similar services) when sending payment to anyone online (no checks, money orders, wire-transfers, cash). Services like this offer fraud protection and can help you take action and recover lost money. If they don't have a Paypal account set-up, don't buy from them. If you don't have one set-up, get on it. 2. Require that items are shipped via FedEx/UPS as they issue tracking numbers and signature confirmation to ensure the package was shipped and received. You can also opt for C.O.D (cash on delivery) to help prevent fraud. 3. Research and ask if other members have has favorable transactions with the person you are buying from. If the member has not conducted any transactions with any other members, ask them if they have an eBay account that shows positive feedback. 4. Use your gut! If something doesn't seem right, let someone else test the waters before jumping in. FEEDBACK: YOU SHOULD ONLY POST ONE REVIEW PER TRANSACTION IN THE GOOD GUY/BAD GUY THREAD. That means positive or negative, leave ONLY ONE POST (even if there's a rebuttal from the other party). Keep your comments about the transaction ONLY and stay away from insults and inflammatory language or you may face punitive measures as stated above. RESOLVE YOUR DISPUTES OFF THE BOARD! That means resolve your dispute via PM, email or phone, not in public view! All sellers MUST include the expected delivery time, delivery method (USPS, FEDEX, UPS) and return policy (you can say "as is" or "no returns" if you like) but you MUST include your policies in your post. *** THIS SITE AND ITS STAFF WILL NOT ASSIST YOU IN RESOLVING DISPUTES. IF YOUR WANT BUYER PROTECTION, GO TO EBAY.*** MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS: THIS SITE DEPENDS ON YOUR SUPPORT: This is the ONLY community of its kind, and in order to maintain the quality of our member base and pay for operating costs we ask for members to help contribute by becoming a paying member. In order to participate in many areas of the forum you will need to purchase a SUBSCRIPTION. We currently offer 3 incredibly well-priced membership levels. 21. We had our first confirmed case of a member being banned for issues surrounding plagiarism, dishonesty, and posting of other people's work. This WILL NOT be tolerated. If you're found out to have violated these rules your account and all posts will be deleted. This site is a place for people learning the art of tattooing to share and help each other learn. Posting images of other's work is not only plagiarism, it's dishonest. There is no way to improve your skills if we cannot watch you grow as an artist. As a friend of mine always says, "it's about progress, not perfection." On the subject of using another artist's flash design as your reference for a tattoo is absolutely OK, so long as you give credit and DON'T claim the "design" as your own. If a piece has been traced or reinterpreted please credit original artist and/or source. We believe that there is great value in studying, tracing & copying the work of other artists, past and present, but do not feel that Ink Trails is a suitable forum for posting such work unless it is clearly stated that the work being posted is a copy and is not to be entered into any of the competitions. Most of the tattoo pioneers all drew modified variations on the same basic designs. Some even traced flash and colored it themselves. In most tattoo shops across the world, you can choose a design from the wall that has probably been redrawn hundreds of times, with subtle variations. The problem lies in taking credit for another artist's exact design. It's pretty simple, just use common sense. I also want to bring attention to the fact that we DO NOT allow posting of any copyrighted materials on this forum. That includes flash, books/manuals, and videos that you do not own the copyrights to. People make a living from their work, and if it's no longer profitable to produce these materials, they will stop offering it. You know the drill. Let's all strive to foster a spirit of honesty and integrity on this forum. Dig it.
  22. An issue has recently come up about a post of a potentially unsafe tattooer and my decision to remove both a personal picture of the man and a link to his myspace account. I wanted to provide context to the rationale behind my decision. One of the reasons for my decision was a recent case that of a woman who is being indicted for creating a fake myspace profile and "bullying" a girl, eventually leading to her suicide. Here's the Department of Justice's press release on the case: http://losangeles.fbi.gov/dojpressrel/pres...la051508usa.htm While I think what this woman did was reprehensible, I am not in the opinion that she should be criminally liable for the little girl's death. However, this case could potentially have disastrous implications for "anonymous" users and their culpability simply for something said online. Whether or not she is found guilty, and ultimately broke any laws remains to be seen. However, I wanted to address the issue and how it applies to this forum. Similar to the rule about posting images of people without their permission, I strongly feel that posting the personal myspace address of someone without their consent for the sole purposes of challenging their credibility and to potentially evoke harassment is not something I, or this site condones. I am going to remove this post entirely and moving forward any post that is created for this purpose will be removed as well. I ask that members refrain from engaging in such behavior. Thanks for your understanding.
  23. Membership Problem

My pleasure. TBH I am never on here anymore...so sometimes emails/posts get missed. But glad we sorted it out.
  24. Boney called it...The artist who did it asked not to be named. Mind you, that was back in 07 at a time when the "learn how to tattoo" thing was a BIG no-no. However, I honor my wor dand will take that secret to the grave Quite honestly, at some point I'd like to revisit the logo/site design (skin) but that would cost money and time...and life is short
  25. Membership Problem

OK, so IPNs are being sent from payment gateway, meaning all should be back to normal. PLEASE let me know if you still have made payment and are NOT listed as Full Memeber with access to all areas of forum and features. See contact emale above.
