G'day and welcome to my blog *waves* smile.gif

A bit about me:
I live, work and play in Brisbane, Australia
I've been married for almost 18 months
I have 2 cats and a dog
I love cycling, reading, music and TV.
I love tattoos and think that Ink Trails is the best thing I've done/found since I decided to seriously look into a massive career change to hopefully one day become a tattoo artist.

My husband and I each have 3 tattoos and plan to get a whole lot more when money permits (currently saving up for a fantastic holiday in September to Canada/USA).

Now about this career change....why? Because I love art, tattoos, meeting people and am finding my current job less appealing each month.

I spent the past 2 months discussing with my husband the ups and downs of attempting a tattooing career. Everytime we discussed it, it came down to the fact that money was the big obstacle
ie. we couldn't afford our mortgage if I just up and left my current job for an apprenticeship (assuming I could find one). My husband is soooo supportive of me in this endeavour, mainly because he thinks he'll get free tattoos, hahaha.

I've basically lost all motivation at my current job, which I kinda feel guilty about.

I've noticed that most people have one of 3 things in life that they pour their time/passion/resources into:

1) Their job
2) Their kids
3) Their hobby

Seeing as we have no kids (and don't want any) that left me to either be passionate about my job or a hobby. I decided that I'm going to be passionate about my hobby (ie. tattooing), which is fast becomming my life interest, calling, passion, whatever you want to call it! Since I've made this decision, I'm sooo much more settled and happier in my mind and feell like I have a purpose and direction to take my life in.

I'm currently on a month-long holiday from work and have spent the past 3 weeks drawing/sketching etc to add to my folio. I also went to a nearby tattoo shop and showed the artist about 8 pages of flash-type sketches I'd done, and he gave me some good feedback about my artwork which was encouraging.

Now these past 2 weeks have taken me forward in my journey by leaps and bounds because my husband bought me the following:

*Huck Spaulding book and DVD
*Tattoo machines/power pack/inks/tubes/needles etc etc etc
*A light box

And today, I tattooed my first actual picture onto a melon. I had so much fun doing it and totally lost track of time, which indicates to me just how much I enjoyed doing it smile.gif

I tell ya, I've been bitten by the bug and it's infectious! I'm looking forward to torturing more fruit in the weeks to come.
