I originally posted this topic in the flash competition way back in November of '07.
It seemed to be one of the more popular topics at the time & now we have so many
more members (& I'm back posting a topic) I thought we should revisit it...

ive got a new laptop an my scanners not installed so had to take a quick camera phone snap - will scan the image in properley but will put this one up for now to get the ball rolling

i dont usually go for the oldschool type stuff but decided to give this a go - i dont think its technically traditional - more neo-trad but there you go - either way its a design lol

i like the coffee staining .. or is it tea?
week coffe mixture washed al over left to dry - then splattered with a darker coffee left to dry then splashed with just water - on that note - why do we coffee stain them - i just did it cos i see u lot do it lmao - i think it makes the piece stand out more too

I think it just gives the piece an old, tattered look. Like it's an old piece from back in the day. Like an old map or something. I find that if you keep the wash off certain areas of the art, it enhances your negative space even that much more too.

Whether it was originally intended or not, I don't know, but I think the staining helps set the piece against a background more like skin tone too

This is tinted with imported
Japanese Koi Blood, Green
Tea stain & Piss...

I've sent the sketches, line work & other stages
(illustrating the process I use to draw a design up)
to Nerd for the Sketchbook, so it may or may not
be appearing in there at some point in the future..

Hmm, so far the only thing I have a chance of winning is the prize for originality... lol
