Ok, time to get inspired by your favourite band/song/lyrics (or some you don't like at all, if you really want to test yourself!
This is pretty flexible, with no style restrictions, besides keeping it plausibly tattooish. Have fun with your illustrative skills, or show off your talent for creating perfect uniform script on a bunch of songlines. Shall we say Sunday 18th for the deadline? That should give you time to have a listen through your favourite albums and let your imagination have fun! These are the rules: 1:- Original Art ONLY 2:- Each member may submit only ONE entry per week 2:- Pencil, Pen, Ink, Crayon, Paints, watercolor etc... 3:- NO Digital or Photoshop (unless your cropping or making it a smaller size) 4:- Contest ends Sunday, 4 of October, at midnight 5:- Art must be "Tattooable." 6:- Nothing you drew a month ago is allowed, must be Original/New stuff for every contestant 7:- If you feel the need to Prove your work, please provide evidence of this. (entirely up to you) This post has been edited by amybird: Oct 6 2009, 07:55 AM |

Oh piss. I was sure I would fuck something up lol
EDIT: Indeed, the extra twist to this week's contest is that you must also invent a time machine in order to meet the deadline! This post has been edited by amybird: Oct 6 2009, 09:36 AM |

Here she is, based one of my favourite Misfits songs, "Helena"
![]() If you aren't familiar with the song, here's teh wordz incase you're wondering what the hell is going on! "If I cut off your arms and cut off your legs Would you still love me anyway? If you're bound and you're gagged, draped and displayed Would you still love me anyway? Why don't you love me anyway? Cutting with the knife, blood is spilling everywhere She will be my wife Secondary spine Incisions must be accurate I know just what to do My hands are trembling I can't spare to slip up with this knife Her beauty so illogical The beast come gliding in Hideous chameleon stripped down to her skin Dance to the burning flame Pleasure exhumes the pain The night bursts into flame Dance Helena... Dance If I cut off your arms and I cut off your legs Would you still love me anyway? There's a spot on the floor where your limbs used to be And I close the door on my fantasies Why don't you love me anyway? Helena!" Youtube It's a bit hit and miss in places, and the linework doesn't stand up to close inspection due to pen issues (it was dying and was never great in the first place). I decided not to risk re-lining the frame for that reason, coz it wouldn't have been very forgiving of fuckups. The ribbon didn't come out as ribbony as planned, but nevermind. Dance, Helena! |

Just realised the camera flash has reflected off some of the denser bits of ink... meh. Hard getting the right photo.

Set your art up on a desk in a corner. Set up two lamps. One facing away from the art hitting one of the walls in the corner, the other facing up towards the ceiling or with the lamp shade off. That should gove you enough light to take a good pic without the flash.
Or, turn your flash on, and cover it with a few layers of paper towel and scotch tape. Macro setting for either option. Nice painting. -------------------- |
