hi all! i have been reading the forum since i read the black book a couple of weeks ago and am very impressed with the talent and friendliness here! so this morning i payed my dues and became a lifetime subscriber!
a little about me, i'm 31 and have been in art in one way or another since school. i have had a well established airbrushing background on motorbikes etc, but now currently work fulltime and art and design is again a sparetime thing. after holding quite a strong interest in the art of tattoo i bought my first tattoo kit from ireland a couple of weeks ago. to me this is a bit like when i first started airbrushing, i hold no hopes of ever getting it right and no intention of being a kitchen scratcher!! - for now its another tool and medium for my art. if i do ever get good enough then i'll see about taking it up like the airbrushing but this i'm sure will be years away! i'm just excited to be learning something new! so far i have only just done 2 bits on practise skins (note to self get some pig) - they are horrible things to work on! i'll be brave and post them up for you to see! anyway enough rambling from me, its good to 'meet' you all! regards merlin |

hey thanks for the welcome everyone!
jd, those links are very informative thankyou! i keep getting people ask me when i'll be testing human skin, i'm not short of human guinea pigs to say the least (Many of them know my existing portraiture and airbrush work ) but i'm getting a wee bit tired of arguing the toss as to why i wont! although some good has come of it! thanks to the reading so far my other half is second guessing where he planned to have an existing tattoo continued and others are also realising the questions they need to ask when approaching tattoist, and also things to look at when they first enter the studio - its made alot of people i speak to think i can tell you! anyhow, this cheep kit i have is strictly for learning and practise, as and when or if i'm ready to get serious, after learning the machines and needles and setups, and i'm getting consistently good feedback, then and only then will i upgrade my machines and buy that autoclave, register myself and...... thanks again for the welcome This post has been edited by merlin: Sep 14 2009, 10:16 AM |
