> Guidelines for Giving Feedback

Please consider the following when giving feedback on a member's tattoo:

Line work: Does the artist seem to have grasped the technique of applying smooth, consistent lines? Do the lines flow with no shakes, skips or blow-outs?

Fill: Are all color and black areas a consistent color?

Shading: Does the tattoo show smooth gradients and transition effectively from light to dark?

Color Harmony:
Does the tattoo have colors that compliment each other?

Placement/Size:
Does the tattoo seem to be the right size for the area chosen? Is it centered and lined up with any other work? Does it go with the flow of the body?

Design: How well does the overall design work? Does it have sound composition? Does it feel well thought out?

Feedback: What areas could be improved?

I'd definitely suggest more black in the eye sockets. More black in the mouth and nostrils. Black in between the two layers of fur. Also a darker tone of the existing colors where they are now, and the existing tone faded from there. Applying this to both the red tongue and blue fur. Make sense? That's just my gut feeling.

Maybe just the black and the red. See how that looks on paper first. You could also throw in a bit of a grey or even orange background shadow. >>like the blue in this one<< This is Joe Sleepy's art, and his colors too. I followed all his advice on color theory on this one and was very surprised at how the complimentary color in the background not only made the design pop, but made the skull stand out as it's own without using very much color use in the actual skull at all. Just a friendly suggestion. I'm not saying this is what to do. Just a friendly comment. smile.gif

i think it looks really cool without the traditional black shading, when i first looked at it i was like "why dose this look so cool, what is different about it?" then i read the posts and i was quite embarrassed.

i like it. if you do want a little more depth, maybe a darker blue fading into the blues you have (same with the red) would do? black maybe too heavy.

if its not enough you can always go back in with black.

I think it's working surprisingly well without black. Definitely be cautious and do some experiments on paper first.
