The title kind of sounds crazy, but I'm interested in why each of you started getting tattoos and what getting tattoos means to you now. Not specifically, but in a general sort of way.

Personally, when I was a kid it was all about being cool and a badass. The more people thought you were crazy and mean, the less people fu##ed with you. After that, it was what people expected, and I revelled in it. People thought I was a criminal, so I was gonna be a damn good one.

Now, it's more about expression and a sort of personal scrap book that only I can read.

Pretty much the same here...some r reminders of past lives....some of the crappier ones have become my practice areas for different techniques, inks etc.... kind of like a watch....look to see how things age(inks et..).
My shitty tattoos from others are looking better these days. I use the areas VERY sparingly and ONLY for viable purose.
