I put some sample needles into a few studios this week. One of these studios are known for making their own needles. Hate premades with a passion. I coaxed him into tryin em.
2 days later I get a phone call. they ordered 30 boxes. Gonna try em he says. LOL

These needles are the ducks guts.

They look sweet and I'm always up for trying new stuff so I ordered a bunch of boxes of various sizes 3r, 5r, 5tr, 7r, 8r and 7cm, 9cm. As part of my apprenticeship 12 years ago I had to make needles of all configurations and I got really good, to the point where as a side line for some extra cash I made needles for other shops in my area (before buy them by the box boom), but I'll be the first to admit, nothing as smooth looking as these (well the odd one...lol)! Can't wait to try them out!

Peace

Got my samples today... for some reason only got 1 actual liner from them so its gonna be a little hard to evaluate those vs the mags they sent but my initial impression is wow! Just looking through the packaging the quality of the soldering and needle placement is exceptional and I'm sure I'll be ordering more.

I talked to billy he said there has been a huge interest so just tell him you didn't get everything and he'll make it right

I talked to billy today and mentioned how some of the traditional guys find the liners to be too to tight for what they're doing. They are planning a new launch aimed at the more traditional type artists. They want feedback on what more of the traditional artists use as far as groupings. This post is going to be one area of feed back as long as talking to other artists in person.

They plan on opening up their liners and possibly changing their mags for traditional. So if you guys could post what your favorite groupings for traditional are.

I totally think their mags are shit hot!!! DO they have textured mags yet? I like their liners. I used their 7rl and its tighter so for my standard lines I plan on using 9's instead, not a biggie.... but would love to see variations like you said you guys talked about.... maybe like tights, standards and loose..... on a side note I gave a friend of my some of the needles and he shit himself before he even opened the blisterpack. He really loved the mags too!! said he didnt feel the needle flex like he did with his old needles so I think he's sold too.

I was dissapointed with the liners at first but mario brought up a good point.... if you normally use say a 7 just order a 9 and you'll be ok..... did that and enjoying then now alot. For the mags are quit delicious in my opinion but if your still aprehensive go to the website theyll give you 2 needles of up to I think 5 or 6 different needle/size groupings for free to try

These are bad ass needles. They want to accommodate everyone so they would be willing to make wider groupings instead of having people order larger then what they are used to. Funny things is today he was asking if trad guys would prefer textured needles. In my opinion the flow with these is better then the textured I used so my advice is to try them and see. These aren't set in stone yet. They are still doing R&D and like artist feedback.

I used one of their 11 curved mags today to pack some colour on a cover up... very nice indeed, great penetration and a super solid fill with one pass each way cross hatching.

Just as an FYI, I was using a Neuma which I normally run somewhere between 25- 30 psi for pretty much everything but this thing nailed the colour so easily that I turned it back to 20.

have you found any difference with needle types from your air powered to traditional machine before?

I actually don't use trad machines just rotaries / neumatics as they are so much easier on my hand. Thats not a plug for those types of machines either as coils are just as versatile; I have nerve damage from a wreck and neuropathy from being diabetic so its a case of take what works or don't tattoo (I hadn't for years until I made the switch).

Anyway, back to the Neuma and the spearman thing... anything that lets me turn the power down that much has to be a good thing as it obviously means far less trauma. Using the needles I have here I'd be running at approx 25 psi and my Neumas won't run without flick starting the armature below 20... below 18 they won't push a 3 rl.

Hope that helps.

I noticed the machines ran smoother myself. Smoother solder means less weight so that makes sense that they could run at a lower PSI. I noticed that I didn't have to turn my machine up for 9's

I'm guessing its a combination of that (less friction / weight) and the long taper needing less force to pentrate the skin.

Either way I'm sold; just waiting for more feedback on the liners before I place an order.
