Skull tattoo flash - need help at the banner |

I draw this flash for my next tattoo - i found it is okay for the first sketch but the banner just dont turn out like he should be !
so what im doing wrong with it ? the font is just a placeholder its get another when the banner is done. ps: original it looks better but my scanner is crapy

i like the design but ca see what you mean about the banner .. it doesn;t fit the design very well as is - needs to be more fluid! i hope you are able to pick up some advice on that one cos it'll look great when done once sorted!

yeah it looks flat man, needs some bounce to it. contour like the roundness of the skull, maybe...

I quite like it like that! but think it might be worth doing a couple more to compare - maybe a little less of the banner over the skull...? probably stating the obvious but if you do the skull as you want it then put the bands on tracing paper (or on paper if you use a lightbox - or window to make it transparent) and then move them up or down until you get them in position it might help - but probably just trying to reflect the curves of the skull in the curves of the banner would do it!

the banner looks very thin to me.. I think a bit thicker might look cool.. also you could do something with the skull.. like the skull could be bitting the banner as it passes in front of its mouth or what not..
Might help the banner become A PART of the tattoo.. -------------------- No forgiveness for my sins, I preffer punishment

Hi just thought i would throw in my two cents if you are really having trouble witht the banner try taking awide ribbon and wrap it around you head and have someone take a digital picture. I find doing stuff like this when i'm having a hangup on things. just some cheap info

I think it's because the banner isn't wrapping aound anything at the top and bottom....maybe put a traditional looking dagger or something in there and wrap the banner around that....just a suggestion.

so second pic, much better but not as good as i want it to be, the bottom part seems unatural !
@inca: maybe i make a dagger in the background - could look cool

hey izz, that looks great man, but it seems like trying to get an actual font inside the banner might be a bit tight for the tattoo, you limited the height very much with all the damage to the banner, maybe try lightening the damage on the parts where the text will be, and completely shred the ends up like it is in the middle, instead of them being a nice pretty smooth curl...
know what i mean? its like 2am, i'm probably not making much sense lol -------------------- |
