We've just added a new subforum to SHOP TALK, called "Builder's Corner" (Let me know if you have a more clever or fitting name). This is where machine builders can talk shop, show off their latest projects, and discuss the craft of machine building. NOTE: This section is NOT for selling. Let's keep that in the Marketplace.

If your topic is posted in the wrong section, it will be moved.

Rock on.

I'm just curious and i know about the whole secrecy thing and i respect that but it is in a members section and what im asking is I would like to start discussions and educated debates on certain building topics. Not to the tune of question asking and hopeing someone more knowledgeable comes along and just throws a bone or nothing like that but actual topics with debate and maybe testing different things and theories. IE: i wanna start a topic on different coils and the ohms they produce and what effect different washer size and core dia. have on em and topics topics like that. or would that be going to far being that it is not a super duper secluded area. im just wondering if some of the builders here would participate in things like that, on going debates.

I was meaning if it was in a section that is not openly viewable, (eg by everyone who joins up) then Builders Bunker would seem an appropriate name as it is kinda not in full view.

As far as debates go, they can get messy, lol. Everyone has their own little quirks, their own little theories and sometimes 2 people can be saying the same thing in 2 completely different ways and have a debate while actually sayin the same thing (thats funny shit that one)

The thing, the core thing,is that many of the people who could contribute most expressed a view that they would contribute in a members area and be reluctant to go indepth in an open to all area. The forum being the sum of its parts, under Admin (like one nation, under god) it was felt appropriate to try it in its current format. Its been a couple of weeks....lets give it some time.A couple of bucks for a months membership is within most people who are onlines grasp. That should be long enough to judge whether one would like to join up.These forums take up a lot of time, effort and not a little money to run and some members who have paid are uncomfortable with the idea that its all free to see for people who havent.Paid that is.

This is not aimed at any one person, nor is it the official view of the forum, merely my own observation. There is much, much more to this that Im sure that I dont need to say.
