Alright I took advice and used some reference pictures and traced a bunch of women before having another go. I must say I'm much happier with this, after looking at my first attempt it mad me laugh smile.gif it was pretty terribly morphed and fucked up indeed. By no means is it where I wan't to be, I have the feeling it'll take me a good while sad.gif . I'm feeling determined to get this curve stuff down. Just looking for any more pointers or what anyone doesn't like about this one. (my second attempt) Not really looking for crit about the lines, just the shape/proportions. Also maybe some insight on how to get better looking hair.

Arms and head look very small, the 2 main things that pop out at first glance, Im no expert just my 0.02c

Regarding pratice drawing hair i just googled "deviant art hair tutorial" and came up withthis there is another good realism one on there somewhere which ive been practicing with but cant find it (bookmarked on other comp) but as this one is a bit anime try this one smile.gif

also not a very good photo so difficult to comment on your blending etc smile.gif

Thanks lots for the anime hair link smile.gif . I thought the head was maybe small but I was struggling with the thought for a while... Guess it is too small. As far as the blending it is good, the pic sucks bad, looks a LOT better than it is shown, should look nice and bright angry.gif . I really need a camera or to learn how to light my pictures better .

looks like ya worked from a reference for the lower half and then added your own stuff on top kinda,i would give this another try,it is very good, just needed some more balance, try using a piece of paper covering the upper half over the drawing and redraw it again with the overlay being larger than the paper you started on,looks like ya may have tried to fit it in on too small a piece of paper,i like it though

I did try to give it just a LITTLE perspective, thanks for noticing. But I agree with the other comments so far the arms are too small. Thanks for the encouragement tho. Actually the reference I used I traced a couple times first. The legs kept looking too 'stubby' and the head looked way too small. Looked good in the photo, but when traced it just looked so squat, so I purposely made the legs longer when I drew my own. As far as the top half it was the same ref., and I just made up the hair (no ref.) The head. oh the head. I can't get the size right! It's either too big or too small; however, after looking at other 'pinup' (not sure if this attempt qualifies) I think it's prolly better to error on the side of a big head.

if your drawing the whole body, and this isn't cast in stone, just reference basically, the head is about 1/5th the size of the total length of the body to 1/6th the total length,so split it up roughly by dividing it into 5 or 6 equal parts,or even measure it,but thats a rough way to do it,working by eye using negative and positive space is best, picture the whole body as a blacked out silhouette and the space around the body as white silhouette, maybe even trace it and fill in the body with dark black to see what i mean, the outside of the body is negative space in white, the inside is positive space in black, now look at the white spaces, like lets say the space between her right arm and head, what shape is it,is it the same as the space on the left, and how does it coincide with the space along both sides of the body,it has form just like the body has form,it has a shape and if you look at that while drawing by eye,it helps your eyes to see the shapes as they truly are,it's just a trick to help, not tryin to sound like a know it all,i'm sure i did though, lol, but hopefully it either helps you or someone else who is havin troubles in case you already knew this stuff
