This site is not a substitute for a professional apprenticeship with a licensed tattoo studio. Nor is this site a definitive source for learning the art or trade of tattooing. An apprenticeship is the ONLY universally accepted way to learn proper safety practices and sound technique.
While we welcome members of all levels, we STRONGLY advocate staying away from skin until you've received formal training from someone who works in the field. Hell, even hair stylists must complete over a year of courses, pass a state health board exam, and apprentice under a professional studio before earning a chair.
The trade of tattooing has a rich history and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. If you respect the art, please show your respects by learning the right way.

I think we need a sticky of recommended tattoo equipment suppliers in the "The Apprentice" - Q & A Corner » Equipment: Machines, Power Supplies, etc... section of the forum. I know i always question if a company comes through on what they promise and it would really help everyone out. I know i dont order from a company unless i see others recommending it, because if yall have ever did a search for tattoo equipment it brings up alot of results and you never know if they have quality stuff and if they stand behind what they sell.

Here's what I've found so far for U.S.;
http://www.technicaltattoosupply.com/products.html ... I highly recommend, adult(21) signature required http://stores.ebay.com/TECHNICAL-TATTOO-SUPPLY http://www.painfulpleasures.com/xcart/customer/home.php ... I highly recommend, good stuff, good service. Says body jewelery site, but they sell tattoo supplies. They have textured needles as well, i haven't tried them, but I've heard that they put ink in better. http://unimaxsupply.com/ ... Good stuff, good service, on a note: Strongman machine has weird geometry/coil size http://www.superiortattoo.com/ ... Some good stuff(parts & supplies), some not(coils are bunk & Prizm ink sux), good service http://stores.ebay.com/Superior-Tattoo-Equipment http://www.tattooequipment.com/default.htm ... nice aluminum machines, machine parts aren't great(decent coils tho, no plastic bobbins & good winding) http://www.tattoodepot.com/ ... no first hand experience, but looks "cheap" bicknee ... decent stuff, nice coil winding kit, although not enough wire http://stores.ebay.com/QUALITY-TATTOO-SUPPLIES http://www.spaulding-rogers.com/ ... no experience yet, some stuff looks good tho http://stores.ebay.com/Huck-Spaulding-Enterprises http://www.internationaltattoosupply.com/ ... Shipping is a little slow from the site, but I hear that their e-Bay site is better. http://stores.ebay.com/INTERNATIONAL-TATTO...sQ3amesstQQtZkm http://www.tattooxp.com/ ... no experience http://www.precisiontattoo.com.vhost.zerolag.com/catalog/ ... no experience http://www.papillonsupply.com/home ... no experience http://www.tattooproducts.com/ ... no experience, yet... http://www.sailortattoosupply.com/ ... no experience tattooneedles.us ... no experience http://www.supplytattoo.com/index.php ... no experience That's what I have found so far. If it says no experience I mean that I have not placed an order so I'm not 100% sure they'll sell to us "apprentices", but that I've heard that they do. There are also overseas suppliers that will ship to U.S. as well as more on e-bay. This post has been edited by insight: Jan 4 2008, 09:14 PM -------------------- An it harm none,

ohh and thanks insight Good one mate this is really helpful. I'll get my UK / European companies added too, plus I'll list (as far as I know) if they sell to unregistered folk as that's somethink I always keep on my personal list. I've also got a reasonable list of suppliers from Ebay, specialising in things like Eikon parts, machines, moms inks etc. I'll put it up when I get a few minutes. |

I have found Spaulding & Rogers machines to be nice, well constructed, and both 8 & 10 wrap do a nice job.
Barber DTS. I have purchased loths of things from these guys, well priced and good quality. (Cheap Needles) iMax International Well priced and as a member of the EU does not incur any Import Tax to the UK. (Good Dissposable Tubes) These are the 3 that I deal with and have had good experiances with, hope they can help you also! -------------------- ¤ GamerTag ¤ Manticore INC ¤ ZuneTag ¤ |
