Here at the Trails, we are pleased to announce that the good folks at Painful Pleasures are sponsoring a design contest to create a banner for use on this site! www.painfulpleasures.com carries everything you'd want from Inks (Mom's, Intenze, Starbrite, Skin Candy, and Kuro Sumi) to disposable needles and tubes and more. There will be a $100 1st prize, $50 2nd prize , and $25 3rd prize awarded in a credit towards any tattoo supplies from their site.

Here's the official rules:

  • Must be based on "tattoo art/flash"
  • Must contain the words "Painful Pleasures" and "Quality Tattoo Supplies." The text DOES NOT have to be hand drawn (you may use Photoshop for fonts if you like).
  • Entries must be submitted in a final size of width of between 468 pixels x height of 60 pixels to 728px × 90px at a resolution of 72 DPI (dots/inch)
  • Artwork MUST be ORIGINAL and drawn by YOU!
  • Each member may submit only ONE entry
  • Pencil, Pen, Ink, Crayon, Paints, watercolor etc...
  • NO Digital images (you may and should use Photoshop to crop you image and/or modify your art for the size requirements)
  • Entries must be submitted by August 1st 12AM PST.
  • Entries will be voted on by members and voting will end on August 4th at 5pm PST. Winners will be announced the following day.
  • Please post entries in this post.
  • All participating members grant Ink Trails and Painful Pleasures the exclusive right to unlimited use of their banner design as well as the right edit and/or modify at our discretion.


I'd encourage everyone to be creative. You can create an entire flash design and crop it in Photoshop so that only a thin use only a portion of your design (60 pixels tall is not a ton of space!). Again, Photoshop CAN be used so long as the basis of your submission is original artwork drawn by YOU! Have fun and good luck to everyone!

ok well hope im not gonna get flamed for this just wanted to update my entry, it was midnight when i put it on so just had to tweak a few things ive noticed with my now awake senses.


wasnt updating my drawing just the font.....

I'm not flaming, but could you guys keep it to one entry? There's been plenty of time to work and revise and in any contest you need to submit your best work and leave it at that.

I think we need to bring in a rule for all contest on trails... weekly or one off contests... that each member puts on one entry...and that is their final entry. if it means leaving it til the last day to post it to be sure you have it correct then so be it.

Then any subsequent entries will be taken off and the 1st one left.
It sounds a harsh but it saves tons of re entries confusing the contests, and also means your one entry is final.. no getting ideas from other folks work and adding later etc. ;-)

or maybe even have the contests set that only the last 2 days can entries be placed... therefore eliminating a lot of the above mentioned issues.

I support the one entry rule! Good one Fortune Teller...However, I take responsibility for the multiple entries as I changed the maximum dimensions made a few folks submit revised entries. Definitely things to consider moving forward though.

Ahh well,, I just want to say that I wont be around fer a few nights/days after this one,, cos (an I know it doesnt look like it) but I have worked my butt off during every waking minute I had time on this.. and I would love to say Thankyou for this challenge,, believe it or not I really enjoyed it.. my drawings have changed a million times,, and I ended up getting photoshop and trying to figure out how to use it, etc all in three days... I still aint quite got the hang of it, as you can tell!! font isnt quite what i was after,, nor where i wanted it,, hence the badly written font in felt pen,,,(believe it or not I ended up painting this the actual size that it is with a brush with just 5 hairs on it cos i coulnt get the hang of re-sizing the blooming thing....) Its not turned out at all the way I started it to be,, but hey,, like i said,, Im no techie with computers,, so I want to say thanks for pushing me out of my comfort zone and getting me to learn something new.
Cheers guys. Good luck to you all,, you all have fantastic entries (Toph, and Barny and Buggy......grrrrrrr..lol) makes mine look like puke, but hey, Im proud of it cos I managed to get some kind of font on the bloody thing!!!!



By the way,, I hope i re-sized it right after all this,,,

wanders off chuffed cos its re-sized but shyte!!! ohmy.gif) but its re-sized, and I did re-sized it all by myself!!!! woohooo...lol!!!!
Im off now,, lack of sleep has set in xxx night/morning wherever you are x

Edited to say Thanks for listening to my rambling!! And Im still chuffed that I got it resized and some kind of font on it!! WOOHOOO heeheehee
