> Guidelines for Giving Feedback

Please consider the following when giving feedback on a member's tattoo:

Line work: Does the artist seem to have grasped the technique of applying smooth, consistent lines? Do the lines flow with no shakes, skips or blow-outs?

Fill: Are all color and black areas a consistent color?

Shading: Does the tattoo show smooth gradients and transition effectively from light to dark?

Color Harmony:
Does the tattoo have colors that compliment each other?

Placement/Size:
Does the tattoo seem to be the right size for the area chosen? Is it centered and lined up with any other work? Does it go with the flow of the body?

Design: How well does the overall design work? Does it have sound composition? Does it feel well thought out?

Feedback: What areas could be improved?

Did this Jim-Jam at the MOM convention, and it still has a lot 'plastic' on it. I wanna get some opinions on the flambes (said like the cooking style) and the lantern. They are just...lacking...for my tastes.
There will be some black and grrrrrrrey jonx behind it, I just gotta wait 'til he's 100% non-plastic. Anything else I don't see?

My personal gut says to add a bit of black under the digits in the cat's right paw/hand to get a bit more contrast between the palm and the digits. If it were mine, I'd also feel that I'd need a bit more value separation between the belly and his right arm. That's a crazy choice of colors all around, especially with the flames. Wicked sweet. smile.gif

Dat wassa quickka!
Good call on the palm thing. I don't know if I have too many issues with the arm/belly guy, but maybe? If anything, I need to bring that black down a little bit...or is that what ya meant? Wait, my right, or nekomata's right?

Yea, he let me do whatever with the drawing and the colors.

Nekomata's right. The arm to belly feeling is just the blue on blue. It's obviously not confusing as to what's going on. It's just my gut that tells me to add more separation with some contrast. And yeah, I meant a little bit of black in that brown paw. Nekomata's right paw. The only reason why I feel this is because you have such great use of black throughout the rest of the piece, my gut says it's lacking just a smidgin of black there just to balance it. But this is all just me reaching for some kind of constructive crit. If you hadn't asked, I wouldn't have looked so hard for something to suggest. ;)

I like this piece alot, definitely hearing JD on the paw, just a little bit of black underneath the paws. The one thing I don't like is the orange used. It's just a bit too flourescent for my taste. Wonder what it will look like under black light?

Other than that, I love it.

I like this loads. Esp. the way the lanterns been executed. Though did you miss a bit of fire under the tail? or should it be like that?
