Please consider the following when giving feedback on a member's tattoo:
Line work: Does the artist seem to have grasped the technique of applying smooth, consistent lines? Do the lines flow with no shakes, skips or blow-outs?
Fill: Are all color and black areas a consistent color?
Shading: Does the tattoo show smooth gradients and transition effectively from light to dark?
Color Harmony: Does the tattoo have colors that compliment each other?
Placement/Size: Does the tattoo seem to be the right size for the area chosen? Is it centered and lined up with any other work? Does it go with the flow of the body?
Design: How well does the overall design work? Does it have sound composition? Does it feel well thought out?
Feedback: What areas could be improved?

spacing of the first three words is bad. maybe you could have measured it out a little bit better.
lines look solid, a few wobbles in some places shading gradient isnt very smooth overall an ok job |

Why didn't you sort the spacing out before making it permanent?
EDIT: At least it's sort of appropriate, given the meaning! This post has been edited by amybird: Oct 21 2009, 03:50 AM |

Nice job me thinks, it's a difficult place to tattoo, first time i tattooed someones side i found i difficult to cut a clean line and had sulpt every one to make them clean and even. A learning curve for sure that night.
Apart from the close spacing at the top i think it's gr8 imo. |

Does the spacing change radically depending on the position of the person?I would think so.A bugger to get spacing that looks right from every position.....kudos for attempting...and 9RL!I like it,go in hard!

I used to work with one of the laziest salesmen in the world and his excuse for shit not getting done every time was "it is what it is". Naturally this phase puts a bad taste in my mouth.
This is probably one of the biggest script tattoos I've seen. It's powerful, I wish the statement it's making was just as powerful. -------------------- |

i have been doing caligraphy since i was a kid (over 20 years), but everyone has his or her taste. in most cases, i prefer the super clean look and spacing of a computer generated font. so i like it overall. the line work is solid and i like the shading. but yeah, as said, the spacing is way off. unfortunately, that will always cause it to be lacking. too bad cause it's big and i like the idea.

the spacing is off like the others say. never settle for stencil placement especially on word spacing! what does the client know? is he an artist? also ive never had a client say the tattoo didnt look good and i know ive done some real shit tattoos, what the clients says to your face and what he says to his friends are completely different things. all in all its not a horrible tattoo, itis what it is!

^ good hopefully it will make u work harder and take a second look ...
emcee is 100% right i have had a client tell me the tattoo was perfect yet 2 days later a freidn tells me hat he knows that client n was complaining about this or that .... a client will always say it looks good, and the client is not an artist .. he may like it today but hate it tomorrow once his friends see it and say wtf is that ? so never take what the clinet says .. keep in the back of your mind but truly think and make ur own judgment ... -------------------- www.inkedbythenerd.com swallowsndaggers tattoo forum Swallows and Daggers Support The Traditional Movement Tattoo Artist, Painter, Asshole and Machine Collector |
