A guy at work said he had an "art" book at home given to him as a present, said never heard of this bloke and if I want it he'd bring it in, low and behold it's a mini bio on H.R Giger, excellent read and some awesome artwork especially biomech (well he is the creator of Aliens characters), amazing how some peoples minds work and this book goes into the dark depths of H.R Giger's mind,I didn't realise how fucked up great artist brain works but this has given me a little insight.
Not a huge book by any means but well worth the read. |

Love me some Giger. Not sure I find him nearly as crazy as Dali, but tapping into the right side of the brain so much will do that to you. I do appreciate him more in a design aspect than most seem to though. Not a lot of actual artists that I dig. I tend to think of Giger almost as a mirror to Frank Lloyd Wright. Giger's work being smooth and often feminine despite the abundance of phallic symbols, while Wright's work is normally very sharp and angular. Almost aggressive. Oh look, I've just bored everyone to tears....
