i have found that around the armpit and the scruff of the neck are the trickyer spots to get the ink to stay. the depth feels a bit deeper to get it to take , then when it heals it falls out again.
i wont even do stomachs now because i feel the work suffers. but hey thats just me |

as for stretching the top part of the belly, Ive found that if you stretch the skin up wards torwards the face it goes fairly smoothly., and for the lower abdomen if you stretch it trwards the groin area.
but at the same time you also need to get a wide stretch by using the index finger to tighten the skin. using your last three fingers (middle, ring, pinky), you need to get your main stretch in either a north or south position, by pulling up or pulling down depending on the location of the stencil on the stomach. i then use my index finger to stretch in either a east or west direction and the proceed to tattoo between my index and middle fingers. i also use my thumb and pull in a north or south direction to help tighten the pull. ill try and take a pic if any ones interested hope this makes some sense. The only place I really have any problems is in a crease of the clients skin. Then it becomes a healing thing, the client usually has to use that part of there body constantly, which never really gets that much attention fom him/her, of course that's not what they try to tell me. "Can I go swimming, tanning, Bahamas, can I rub myself in syrup?" You know what I mean?

I hate stomachs! It's not the skin, it's the reactions from the people. The involuntary spasms can catch you at the worst times. I usually end up having to go back and sort it with the shading, which does the trick, but now and again I can't help but inflict the odd 'black spot'.
I find the inner-upper arms a bitch too. The first time I did one, I spread the ink under the skin, resulting in a permanent grey 'bruise'. Luckily I always try things on myself first (so guess who's got an abortion on their inner-upper arm?!). I'm a lot more cautious now, but any surefire tips would be handy! |

bikini/groin area....lol
that skin is like pizza dough......and because it's shaved/treated (on girls atleast)....the ink just does NOT want to stick.....and when i tdoes..the line can look super thin......it can be awkward to say the least trying to get a good stretch.....it's good to chat them up before getting down to brass tacks...... |

My girlfriend demanded that I tattoo shooting stars on each side of her forehead. The outline went in fine but the baby blue colouring I shaded into the stars didn't take too well. Quite alot of bleeding on one star too. After they heal I am going over the colour again. She said it was painless. But the tattoos she did on the tops of her feet hurt her like a bitch!

If you are about to leave a comment, please be as polite and positive as possible. I am sick of getting smart ass comments about my work, by users who have no tattoos in their gallery and users who NEVER EVER post any of their own goods. I know kids have fun putting others down. THINGS don't change. But let's try to be adults here. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I HATE EATING SPINACH and MUSHROOMS and I don't like watching or listening to some things too. YOU, on the other hand might LOVE eating that shit and listening to....'whatever' If anyone ever states that "I should be ashamed of myself for tattooing", I say to them......."Tell that to my clients ASS HOLE" THANK YOU COME AGAIN |

Its frustrating when ink doesn't take well... as people come and expect a prefect tattoo like they see in a magazine or photo shopped on the net..
it can be a let down to them to see colour not go in amazingly bright and perfect... disappointment to use too of course! 2nd colour session on some of my tatts has been whats saved them from being mediocre... so recolour is something that i'm always prepared for. I'm hoping one day i will master the technique to get colour fill in well enough first time not to require recolour.. but of course this can be down to the skin area and not the technique. -------------------- ..Damn it...
