Can you send a picture of what you did? You can usually tattoo over a piece again after two weeks or
it peels totally and the skin isn’t tight and shiny anymore. Ink should hold the same on all parts of the body.
The only exceptions are the bottoms of your hands and feet and inside your lip.
I don’t recommend tattooing those spots because they tend to fade soon.

The hardest parts to tattoo are the stomach, scalp and tops of feet and hands.
The stomach moves more then any part for two reasons. One is breathing obviously and the second is:
no matter how buff you are the skin moves around you need to triple the work time and stretch this area the hardest.
The scalp, tops of hands and feet are the areas with the thinnest skin. You need to be gentle and don’t go to deep or over work the area.
I don’t recommend doing those areas for awhile.

ive done my shin and it went in fine, i also tried a stomach piece for my second done tattoo, it was really hard, the needle was sticking during the outline, and after it healed, the ink had come out in places.
to be honest tho, i was using dragon ink, so you know the results are hit and miss anyway, i'll be going back over it this week.
other than that, the stomach piece looks phat.

If you get a better stretch on the stomach it will cure the sticking problem.

I've found that the hardest part of the body to tattoo is the stomach from my experience with tattooing stomachs i have came to found that if you dont stretch the skin properly ect,the tattoo can end up looking warped and out of shape and not looking like it is supposed to.I learnt this quite afew years ago when i tattooed a little crazy looking gold fish desighn on the side of my mates stomache. It was abit bigger than a oreo biscute it turned out good with color holding and being nice and bright and stuff but it looked abit flat when my mate stretched the skin tight it looked perfect but then once the skin was'nt pulled tight it looked abit flat and out of shape. It turned out like that because of where the desighn was put and because of not stretching the skin properly.

i have black flames going up my left calf, starting at the ankle.  the ackilies tendon took 2 touch up runs (so 3 total colorings) to really hold the ink.  That was the only problem i've had with holding ink.  Shin went fine.  Knee-pit/ditch was fine.

The 4 I have on the top of my hands held up well ! with only one needing going over once.
I heard the palms of the hand are hard for ink to hold. One artist I know has gone over the one she did on her palm 3 times I believe.

iv tattood my own stomach, and i think i stretched the skin rite... i didnt get any sticking of the needle... however i cant seem to get colour to stay in... iv been over it twice now, once with a blue base colour, then tried to get a purple dark shade, to fade into the blue... it looked promising when i finsihed it but now its scabbing, and coming off it doesnt look like there is much purple in there!

any tips on how to get colours to stay in mark?

cheers :D

Have some one else do it. Working on your stomach is going to be a bitch because you are going to lean into it and trying to tattoo staright up using a mirror is hard.

I recently tattooed my palm for the first time, its still healing but I know most of its not going to hold.  I've been told by a few people with experience doing these that the best bet it to really pack the ink in deep with a fast and hard running machine.  And to keep the design basic and bold so when the lines blow out it will still look pretty good.

i tattooed the bone structure of a friends hand once both in his palm and the backside of his hand as well and i could NOT get the palm of his hand to take ink very well and even when it did it would fade and need touching up after a few months due to him growing calouses. it looked cool but will always need touching up unfortunately no way around it

The inside of the upper thigh's as the skin can get very thin yet very hard. And in and near the creases of the inner elbow.

Both places I have had major trouble getting ink into.

^^^ over stretching can cause the needle to actually cut the the skin rather than poke it.

....I think that different parts of the back can really be a challenge....depends on the fat deposits I am sure. :-)

In regards to stretching the skin well enough to make sure the lines dont look out of shape and saggy - did a tribal peice on a mates arm near the crease in the arm to pit, and slightly above to shoulder, I made sure I stretched the skin well and did a perfect tight line, but when the skin was released the line looked slightly wobbled to close inspection, this must have been due to pulling the skin too tight, so the skin when back to normal had its own sagginess that made the lines looked slightly creased... fixed it since but it was a bit annoying to say the least.
so to much stretching must be bad too?!

ink not holding - did a tribal on a back and it took 2 diff sessions to get the black to stay black and not grey. same guy had tribal on an arm in the same ink, same sized needles and it was black no probs. No clue why his back didnt take the colour as well.

times like that you have to trust your stencil and stick to it even if it looks off while stretching

very good advice...
in fact the stencil looked good to follow even when stretched so I did so.. it was simply me over stretching and the skin kinda concertinaed back in to place... my error.. doh..
