How to make a good cover up?
The cover ups are always the hardest part of the tattooing.I will not explain about the small pieces which can be covered with ordinary tattoos.
Lets talk about the big ones.
First I speak with customer and I expalain how the cover ups work. Some cover ups need time to find the right idea and design.
I make a photo of the old one and printed out. Then I start to think about smile.gif LOL
I make some sketches over the photography using the old tattoo for the darkest part of the new one.
When the idea is clear I start with freehand, the best way for the most big coverups.
Try to use thick lines, dark shading(almost pure coror for outlines). The good cover up has a good contrast by the colors.
Some project coverup take a few weeks until I got the right idea to apply.
Every tattoo is possible to be covered up,just need time and money for it smile.gif
Here is example:

just wondered if there were any pieces you thought weren't going o be possible to cover at first - and if you found a solution. (ie too much black, awkward position/size). And what your favourite solution was?

i think the poster was asking if you had been asked to do a cover up that you thought may be too difficult before finding a solution and what your favourite cover up was??

Hi all, hi gettattoo! tongue.gif
I know gettattoo for seven years (or more) - he is really very gifted tattoo artist.
I'll help with translating the question of gurgigirl, because I think it's interesting and deserve better answer biggrin.gif

Translation of the of gurgigirl's question (in Bulgarian):
QUOTE
Чудя се дали е имало някакви области, които си считал, че не е възможно да се покрият първоначално, и в последствие все пак си открил решение. (например там е имало твърде много черно или пък отвратително място/разположение/големина).
И какво е било любимото ти решение на такъв проблем?

Bulgarian no less. Unreal.

With time, good ideas always come to gifted thinkers. I know gettatattoo would come up with the shit in time. "Where there's a whip, there's a way"

If you are about to leave a comment, please be as polite and positive as possible. I am sick of getting smart ass comments about my work, by users who have no tattoos in their gallery and users who NEVER EVER post any of their own goods. I know kids have fun putting others down. THINGS don't change. But let's try to be adults here.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I HATE EATING SPINACH and MUSHROOMS and I don't like watching or listening to some things too. YOU, on the other hand might LOVE eating that shit and listening to....'whatever'

If anyone ever states that "I should be ashamed of myself for tattooing", I say to them......."Tell that to my clients ASS HOLE"
THANK YOU

I found an English to Bulgarian translator at this site http://ft.translator-bg.com/ maybe it will help us all.

I made another cover up,which look kind of unfinished, because I plan to continiue with some details around it. The customer was in hurry because he have to leave the next days to the North Pole smile.gif Anyway I cover the old one. For the outlines I use a 9 open liner, and for the shading and coloring 9 round magnum and round 7 shader. 5 hours work. Will be beter result if I had enough time and 2 sesions.
