Please consider the following when giving feedback on a member's tattoo:
Line work: Does the artist seem to have grasped the technique of applying smooth, consistent lines? Do the lines flow with no shakes, skips or blow-outs?
Fill: Are all color and black areas a consistent color?
Shading: Does the tattoo show smooth gradients and transition effectively from light to dark?
Color Harmony: Does the tattoo have colors that compliment each other?
Placement/Size: Does the tattoo seem to be the right size for the area chosen? Is it centered and lined up with any other work? Does it go with the flow of the body?
Design: How well does the overall design work? Does it have sound composition? Does it feel well thought out?
Feedback: What areas could be improved?

This is a tattoo I did today. This is the start of a sleeve I’m going to do. I worked on him last week fixing an iron cross on his shoulder. He brought in some “Tattoo Johnny” flash. I usually don’t like flash but this one is fairly unique and we mixed it up a little so it wasn’t exactly cookie cutter.
![]() This is what he gave me and when you download form tattoo Johnny the give you line work also. The line work that comes with it is good but if I were to outline exactly how they supply it then it’s wouldn’t look close to the pic, You need to use the line work but bear in mind not all of it is there for lining but know where to shade to. ![]() Here is the stencil placed on the arm ![]() This is in a spot that is just about to go on the inside of the arm and it’s high enough to where it’s in some stretch marks. The top of the arm by the pit is hard enough but through in stretch marks adds more to the equation. He swelled up weird in the pit and as we went he got some swelling. We are going to have to touch up the line work in the pit because he swelled up to quick for mt to get it to stick. YOu can see in earlier stages compare to later how teh lines strat to look wavey as he gets swollen. ![]() Here is the first step of shading. I use a 7 rs for outlining and doing the first part of shading. Never try to do big gradients with a round, you won’t get smooth transitions. ![]() Then I went on to using the 7 mag for eth rest of the fill and shading. He wanted to keep the bottle green and we talked about the label and banner and thought doing gray wash would make it look good. I didn’t do the black and green shading for the bottle but used different shades of green and darkened it with blue. He wanted to change the skull and wants the banner to say something else later. ![]() -------------------- |

for sure, old post. but man this piece is freakin awesome. dude, you are phonomenal at black and grey. if i could be even close to that and never touched a color, i would out of this world happy. the way you shaded that cork brings it to life. still just trying mags, i have struggled with my gradients so i felt some hope. as good of an artist as you are, you are very good at putting together tat tutorials. i am sure you've heard it a million times; you might have something...
i must agree; this piece rox my sox! |

dunno.... your lines aren't looking usual quality, but maby with the color added it wont be noticable when you Tattoo the back of the arm u will realise how hard it is to get your "Usual Quality " of line work.. trust me Mario did this clean... that soft area is like trying to stretch/tattoo jello / jelly .. -------------------- Nosferatu1812@yahoo.com
