Figured I'd get this started with some of my more recent works. I had prismacolors, lost them in a bad move, and up until recently had been using crayolas. All of my linework has been with Microns; .005 for super fine linework (like a single needle), .05 for regular linework (like a 5 round tight), and 1mm for heavy stuff and black fill (it feels like a 7 round up to a 14 round depending on pressure). First off is the traditional dagger/rose from my introduction thread, I believe this was the first piece I've done using Muji colored pencils which I got back in August for my birthday (request to the girlfriend). I coffee stained the background, then decided to mess around with some blackberries and cranberry juice, and got the red splats around the piece. I had kind of hoped they'd be a bit more blood-toned, but the color seems to work well with the handle, so I'm happy.
![]() Next up, we have my golden toilet, which I call "A Religious Movement". I'm not entirely sure I like exactly how I did the gold shading, any advice would be wonderful. Again, Muji pencils and coffee stained, this time with a liberal addition of salt for an interesting effect. ![]() Finally, we have my most recent finished piece, which I tried to keep themed by using weapons and somehow integrating flourishes from B.J. Bett's amazing script books into every piece. The "blood drops" around the background are actually acrylic paint watered down and dripped onto the page, looks good except for where it slipped into my linework on the straight razor. The shape of the brass knuckles piece in the middle is for a top-of-hand piece, I like to work on making images correspond to body parts. ![]() Anyways, any and all comments/advice are appreciated. I'm fairly thick skinned, so don't feel like you have to be too nice. If you love it, great. If you hate it, please tell me why so I can keep progressing. Thanks for looking. |
