I gather you have never used a tattoo machine? Hince never tattooed someone? I would strongly advise you NOT to do it as that is far far too much for your first tattoo. Do you know how a machine is supposed to run, how to set-up it, ,etc...? How to avoid cross contamination? Proper skin strecthing, placing of stencil? Don't get too far ahead of yourself, if you're serious about tattooing learn about the machines first, as mistaking a liner as a shader from a very reputable builder is pretty bad... Do an apprenticeship, far too many people are watching Tattoo shows on TV, buying Ebay Scratcher kits and then try to learn how to tattoo via the internet...

I charge $50 p/h. When I first started I did everything for free. I didnt start charging until I had done over 20 tattoos. It was over 6 months of pigskin and learning that I hit skin (my own) Those first few people that volunteered get free tattoos for life, for placing a lot of trust in me. I wouldnt recommend you do this tattoo. I would practice on your self first.

People will always ask for all sorts of crazy and complex designs with no idea of your ability, they just want a cheap tattoo. Its up to you to do the right thing and start slowly with easier stuff like solid black. If you need to ask question like "how much to charge" or "what inks should I buy" then you are no where near ready to tattoo anyone but yourself. You will learn so much from the first time you tattoo and everytime after, biggest lesson I learnt, is if I have to ask myself "can I do it" or I have any doubts what so ever I wont do it.

Ultimately its your decision but remember, walk before you run.

You will be surprised at how many people come out of the woodwork when they discover you own a tattoo machine. The obligation is on you to be able to say no at this stage. You need to be confident enough on pigskin that your stuff doesn't look like total shite before you consider inking a human volunteer. I agree with most who answered you here. You definately do NOT have the right to be charging anything at this stage. In fact, as I said you should be saying no. If people really appreciate you as an artist they will wait till you are capable of tattooing as a whole. Just as a hint, when you do start tattooing on people, start small & very simple. Choose designs that can be covered later, when you are better (& you should offer to do the coverups for only the costs of your supplies wink.gif, if that). It is a responsibility to have someone trust you enough to have at them with ink & needle. Don't abuse it by going in too soon, too big. Give yourself time to know the craft, and especially in getting to know your best friend - your machine. It's worth the wait - believe me. biggrin.gif

personally i dont think that the design would make a good tattoo.. the whole thing basically needs re drawing and re working. there are a lot better designs out there ... before you knew it you would be regretting taking it on.. draw her up something simple that you KNOW you could do..

charging for supplies are easy... tell them to just give you a tip to cover your materials used.. you will always get more than you think you will..

try same desighn on pig skin first to see if you can pull it off if it seems hard ....think about how it will be to tattoo a person that may move and the possition of the tattoo always is a big factor certain spots on the body dont take that easy it takes skills to lay the ink in .......evvery day is a learning experince for a tattoo artist no matter how many years of experince

Hey guys!

I already have clients asking me for art work lol

My neighbor wants a tattoo from a cd artwork from White Zombie, and i was wondering how much to charge him cause there's a LOT of lines and details inside but since im new in tattoing i dont wanna charge him the price of what it would cost him in a shop

So heres the artwork..as for the size well its around half a normal page

Looks like an Advanced Backpiece.
