Actually slightly ashamed at this, but I have to say i was looking at tattoo books on amazon not long ago and saw how cheap this was. If you've got the cash to spare I do actually think it's a reasonable way to practice shading without having to draw it up first (sometimes i get lazy?)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-Tattoo-Des...6793&sr=8-1

Some of the art is VERY simple, and to say it is based on early 20th centur tattoo designs is perhaps a little loosely described (it smore like early 90s TEMPORARY tattoo designs) but for the price if youre already putign an order in it's not that bad for anyone wanting shading practice.

Apologies to anyone who thinks it totally sucks, just know it helped me work out trad shading a little better

i have it. i havent colored it in and i probably wont, i just wanted to see if there was anything in there... there are actually quite a few decent pieces...to me anyways.
SOME of the designs are kinda stupid though, your temporary tattoo comment was pretty accurate for some of them.. some of them are actually pretty solid.

but yeah, totally worth 4 bucks.. i got mine from unimaxsupply.com :-)

lol, add me to the shameful ranks... I just ordered a copy biggrin.gif

I think it was the battleship on the cover that really reeled me in... can never have enough references. sometimes coloring books are great... I have had more than one person look through my books, admiring the likes of mike giant, martin lacasse and be like "what the hell" when they see my dinosaur and animal coloring books wink.gif

got this book in the other day....

in all honesty it really is not that bad, I'll go so far to say that it is on par with some of the sketchbooks some people put out there these days... the line drawings look typical of old school designs and I was actually surprised lol, if it was really bad I would have given it to my nephew, he is 2.5 yrs old and always has temporary tats and loves to hold his forearm up next to mine and compare lol...
