As most of you know, on January 1st, 2008 we will implement a paid-membership based structure that may restrict some of your current privileges, unless you upgrade and purchase a membership. There will be 3 subscription options:
  1. Monthly Membership: $2/month on a recurring basis
  2. Yearly Membership: $10/year on a recurring basis
  3. Lifetime Membership: One-time fee of $20 for the lifetime of the forum!
Payment are made via Paypal, which is completely secure and can handle currency conversion. If you don't have a Paypal account, it's easy to sign-up for one. Otherwise, you also have the option of paying via credit card without creating an account, however if you opt for a monthly/yearly membership I am not sure how the recurring billing works.

Thusly, the board will have Jr. Members (non-paying) and Full Members (paying). As always, guests and all members will still be able to access and read ALL BOARDS. However new members and those who choose not to upgrade will not have all the privileges Full Members enjoy. Jr. Members will have the following restrictions implemented:
  1. Post/Reply Privileges: Jr. Members will not be able to create a new topic in the following boards:
    • The Apprentice Q & A Corner
    • Show and Tell
    • The Flea Market
Note: They will still be able to create new topics in all other boards
  2. Messaging Privileges: Jr. Members will not be able to send/receive emails (Private Messages/PMs)
  3. Viewing Member Profiles: Jr. Members will not be able to view other member's profiles
  4. Uploading files: Jr. Members will not be able to upload files to the server (either for avatar or posting images to boards)
  5. Photo Gallery/Blog: Jr. Members will not be able to create personal Photo Galleries or Blogs.
The goal of these changes are to create an incentive for new members to contribute and reward those members who have already pledged, as well as help maintain the quality of our member base. And let's face it, this forum isn't free to keep operational. As our membership grows, it will require greater bandwidth, RAM and hosting space to keep it running smoothly. We also hope to continue to add additional features and functionality to improve user experience.

There are other tattoo forums on the web, however if you do your research you will quickly learn that this is the largest, most informative and most welcoming of it's kind. And while we offer boatloads of information for those looking to learn, tattooing can never be a casual hobby. Not only is your work permanent, but if safe practices are not followed, there is the possibility of contamination, infection (and we mean the kind of diseases that really f*ck up your life), as well as scarring someone for life. We think that those that are serious about learning proper technique and practices will undoubtedly see the value in pledging a membership. The amount of free information and knowledge on this site is unmatched and costs less than many of the DVDs on the market that don't offer any kind of interactive capabilities whatsoever. If you are serious about tattooing, we suggest purchasing a membership package (Starting at only $2/month!).

Thanks for reading.

Those prices are extremely resonable and very afforable.

The $10 yearly membership converts to only $11.75 AUD. I've got enough room on my credit card for that. smile.gif

I'd be lost without this forum. I've gained so much knowledge and there's still so much more for me to learn. The few egay tattooing ebooks I had brought before I found this forum have a huge lack of detail and some have false information. Basicly, they were shit.

I have paid for membership and I fully support you Jason. smile.gif

jason

will you still be offering lifetime memberships to contest winners? I think that is something you should keep because it would really get people motivated to enter the flash contests, in turn, getting them to improve their drawing/flash skills.

Not sure at this point if I'll continue giving memberships to weekly flash contest winners. It's a good idea, I just haven't decided as yet. I was hoping I'd get some company to sponsor monthly contests so we could give a prize of gift certificates and membership, so let me mull it over.

Changes have been implemented. Please let me know if you notice any issues! Also, I decided to reward those with over 500 posts with Full membership privileges. However, if you recognize the value of the site and want to contribute, you can purchase a membership. Every penny helps smile.gif

Valerie, my apologies! I literally had to edit everyone's membership status by hand (individually)! I figured I'd screw up a few. Everything should be sorted out.

Bulldog, sorry to hear that someone's appropriated your knowledge for their own financial gain. People can suck. Karma's a bitch, however so they create the world they'll ultimately live in. I could easily sell sheets of old flash I've archived. However, If it 'aint mine, it 'aint mine to sell.

Yes, while going through the list of members, I decided to keep those with over 500 posts (as of 1/01/08) as Full Members. Mind you, I'd still appreciate a donation on their part. However, I felt as though what they contribute to the site warranted a free pass.
