I have a specific interest in Graffiti Handstyles, how they evolve and develop, influencing each other. Especially now with the Internet and Graff Tourists, the formally seperate areas of Philly Tall Print, NY style, LA's Chicano Cholo script and Brazilian Pixacao styles all intermingle to create the contemporary styles.
The Chicano Gang style especially seems to have become part of tattoo script iconography, I saw it appear in a lot of flash and stand banners at the London Convention, I guess it's been popularised a lot through the work of Mr Cartoon, Boog and Mike Giant but obviously it's also been around a lot longer in the consciousness of Skaters and Skatewear fans, through Dogtown, Powell & Peralta, Stussy, et al. For those in certain neighbourhoods in LA, a whole lot longer, as it dates back to Mexican ZootSuiters in the '30's & '40's. Anyway first found an amazing archive set on Flikr (hadn't seen this many examples in one place before), then found this blog page http://handselecta.blogspot.com/2007/03/placa-jackpot.html , which had some other interesting links.
